Job Description

GOLDBECK SOLAR is a leading provider of turnkey solar systems on commercial roofs and ground mounted utility scale PV power plants. With our team of dedicated employees, we develop, plan, build, operate and finance photovoltaic systems in Germany, Europe and worldwide - tailor-made with a standardized approach.

We are seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial, and hands-on leader to join our UK operations as Finance Director (m/f/d), with the perspective to grow into a CFO role. In this strategic position, you will have full commercial responsibility for our UK entity, overseeing Finance, Controlling, Tax, HR, and Legal functions, and actively contributing to the further development of the business (approx. £100m revenue).

Tasks

  • Full commercial responsibility for the UK entity (Finance, Controlling, Tax, HR, Legal)
  • Strategic and operational development of the UK business
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under UK GAAP (future: IFRS)
  • Ensure compliance with group-wide accounting policies and alignment with consolidated reporting
  • Establish and maintain effective project controlling including variance analysis and monthly evaluations
  • Manage intercompany charging processes, including transfer pricing and tax-compliant execution
  • Develop and implement a strong KPI and performance management system in coordination with Group Controlling
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and liquidity planning processes
  • Support implementation and optimization of ERP and reporting systems (AP+ and eGecko)
  • Ensure tax compliance and coordinate with local tax advisors and the corporate tax team
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations (Companies Act, HMRC, internal policies)
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, and manage risk and insurance matters
  • Build, lead, and develop the local team (Finance, HR, Admin)
  • Foster a high-performance and solution-oriented culture
  • Act as a key interface between UK operations and the Group CFO / Group Finance

Profile

  • University degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field with focus on Finance / Controlling / Accounting
  • Minimum of 5–8 years’ experience in a senior finance or commercial role, ideally in an international environment
  • Strong expertise in UK GAAP; CPA qualification is a plus
  • Proven experience in project controlling
  • Background in project-based industries (e.g. construction, infrastructure, energy, plant engineering)
  • Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Entrepreneurial, pragmatic, hands-on, and assertive personality
  • Strategic mindset with strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Comfortable working in international teams and matrix organizations
  • Excellent communication skills, both internal and external
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • Fluent in English; German language skills are a plus
