Job Description
350 is looking for a hands-on Global Finance Manager to lead the financial operations of our newly established 350 Netherlands Stichting and support the organisation's global operations. The Global Finance Manager will be a remote role, based anywhere in the Netherlands.
350's mission is to keep carbon in our atmosphere to a safe level, below 350 parts per million. We do this by mobilizing ordinary people to campaign for universal access to clean energy and an end to fossil fuels. Our campaigns are rooted in local organizing, so that while achieving measurable reductions in fossil fuel emissions, we also build the power and potential of the climate movement for yet more impact to come. Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate record-keeping, and implement scalable processes to support the operations of 350 globally.
- Establish and manage the accounting and financial reporting function for the Dutch entity. Set up accounting policies, chart of accounts, and financial procedures aligned with group standards. - Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closings in compliance with Dutch GAAP and US GAAP. Manage the full close process, including accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation, while ensuring alignment between local statutory requirements and US standards.
- Manage statutory reporting, tax and regulatory filings in the Netherlands. Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax filings, annual accounts, and other regulatory obligations. Serve as the primary liaison with local tax authorities and advisors.
- Ensure full compliance with ANBI requirements.
- Prepare reporting packages, including intercompany reconciliations. Develop and submit standardized reporting packages for the organisational group, reconcile intercompany balances and transactions, and support elimination entries and audit documentation.
- Lead corporate budgeting and forecasting processes. Develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts across consolidated entities, provide variance analysis, and support long-term financial planning aligned with strategic objectives.
- Supervise staff responsible for budgeting, reporting, and global fiscal compliance. Provide leadership, oversight, and professional development to finance team members. Ensure clarity of roles, quality of outputs, and adherence to internal and external compliance standards. Ensure 350 is meeting global compliance requirements in connection with other local registrations.
- Manage restricted grants awarded to the Netherlands entity, including tracking, compliance, reporting to grantors, and ensuring proper fund utilization. Monitor grant expenditures against approved budgets, ensure funds are used in accordance with donor restrictions, prepare financial reports for grantors, and support program teams with budget oversight in conjunction with the Grants team.
- Ensure strong internal controls aligned with the 350 group standards. Design and maintain effective internal control systems, segregation of duties, and financial policies to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with group governance frameworks.
- Partner with senior leadership on financial planning, cash flow management, and performance analysis. Provide financial insights and analysis to support decision-making, manage liquidity and funding coordination with other 350 entities, and contribute to strategic growth initiatives for 350 globally.
- Lead external audits and coordinate with tax advisors and regulatory bodies for 350 globally. Act as the primary point of contact for banks, auditors, and external advisors, prepare required documentation, and ensure timely resolution of audit findings and compliance matters.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting and minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or similar role.
- Nonprofit experience preferred, especially working knowledge of financial accounting for nonprofits.
- Strong knowledge of Dutch accounting and preferably US GAAP and accrual accounting.
- Strong understanding of the consolidation of affiliates and independent entities.
- Strong understanding and 5+ years working with an enterprise accounting system/platform.
- Have an understanding of different banking requirements in different countries to know how to submit payments.
- Experience in developing and managing annual budgets and reporting.
- Demonstrated expertise using Google Suite, Microsoft applications, especially Excel.
- Experience of working in an international non-profit organisation.
- Experience working in a diverse work environment.
- Experience of working with multiple currencies.
We are looking for someone comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.
Position Type: full-time, 36 hours per week
Compensation: This position is at 350's salary grade level 3.3 with a set, non-negotiable salary. For the Netherlands, the annual gross salary is EUR 83192 (this amount includes the 8% vacation allowance).
