Was sie tun

Job Description

350.org is building a global grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis. Our online campaigns, grassroots organizing, and mass public actions are led from the bottom up by thousands of volunteer organizers in over 188 countries. 350.org works hard to organize in a new way-everywhere at once, using online tools to facilitate strategic offline action. We want to be a laboratory for the best ways to strengthen the climate movement and catalyze transformation around the world. The values that guide and drive our work are listed here.

350.org is an equal opportunity employer. 350.org strives to be an inclusive and collaborative group of people who bring a variety of approaches to the work we do. We're committed to the principles of justice, and we try to build a safe workplace where everyone is treated fairly and enjoys working together. We value new perspectives, ideas of all sorts, and different ways of working. Diverse perspectives and experiences improve the way 350.org carries out our work - including what we decide to work on and how creatively/effectively we do that. We do our best to make staff positions accessible to all potential team members, regardless of race, national origin, ethnicity, age, disability, assigned gender, gender expression or identity, sexual orientation or identity, religion or creed, veteran status, marital or parental status, and genetic information. We also strive to include team members in communities most impacted by climate change or impacted by other kinds of environmental, social, and economic injustice.

About the Interim Global Campaigns & Networks Director

To provide senior leadership of 350.org's Campaigns & Networks function during a period of maternity cover, ensuring continuity and delivery of the organisation's 2026 global campaign arc, COP31 strategy, and other campaigning initiatives, as well as effective management of the Campaigns & Networks team. This is a leadership role combining campaign delivery, team management, cross-organisational coordination, and external representation.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation of the 12-Month Global FFPO Campaign: The global campaign arc translates into impactful activity, moments, and political pressure, coordinated across countries. Deliverables include:
    • Translate the global campaign arc into quarterly global priorities
    • Ensure key moments(i.e., campaigning, political, or engagement-focused) are planned and delivered under agreed narrative frames
    • Support regions/countries to align national work with the global campaign steer
    • Oversee delivery against agreed campaign milestones
    • Coordinate with Engagement to ensure narrative and supporter integration
  • Leadership and Coordination of multilateral events: Amongst others, 350 arrives at COP31 politically sharp, coordinated, visible, and aligned with the FFPO campaign. Deliverables include:
    • Oversee the development and execution of 350's COP31 strategy
    • Coordinate country, regional, and global contributions to COP moments
    • Ensure alignment of COP tactics with the 12-month fossil fuel phaseout campaign
    • Ensure spokesperson, media, and narrative alignment
    • Connect inside and outside track activities under coherent goals / objectives
    • Represent 350 in key external coordination spaces linked to COP31
  • Team Leadership, Setup, and Performance Management: The Campaigns & Networks team operates effectively. Deliverables include:
    • Line management of Campaigns & Networks staff (approx 6-7)
    • Support the implementation of the new department structure
    • Maintain clarity of roles, priorities, and accountability
    • Address performance, conflict, or capacity issues as they arise
    • Ensure team well-being and continuity in a high-pressure period
  • Rapid Response and Political Moments: 350 responds quickly and strategically to emerging political opportunities or crises. Deliverables include:
    • Oversee rapid response campaign moments across regions
    • Ensure alignment with global narrative and campaign priorities
    • Oversee coordination with Engagement and Comms for visibility moments.
  • Global Networks Stewardship: 350's leadership role in a global network of organisations working on clean energy and broader networks remains strong and strategic. Deliverables include:
    • Sit on the Steering Committee of a global network of organisations working on clean energy, as the 350 representative
    • Oversee the preparation and delivery of the annual meeting
    • Maintain key external partnerships linked to the global campaign and COP
  • Organisational Alignment, Reporting and Budget oversight: The Campaigns & Networks Team aligns with organisational processes, planning cycles, and resource priorities during a critical delivery year. Deliverables include:
    • Lead Campaigns & Networks input into organisational planning processes
    • Ensure campaign priorities are reflected in country and regional plans
    • Oversee the team's contribution to quarterly and annual organisational reporting
    • Maintain strong coordination with MEL and Engagement to ensure learning informs delivery
    • Provide oversight of Campaigns & Networks budget to ensure resources are aligned with campaign and COP priorities
  • Authority and Representation. The successful candidate will:
    • Sit in on relevant senior leadership and cross-department coordination spaces
    • Represent 350 externally in campaign, network and partner spaces as required
    • Have line management authority over designated staff.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience in designing and managing multi-country, South-North or South-South campaigns in a related sector (e.g. climate, development, social justice, human rights), of which at least 5 should be at senior management or leadership level.

  • Strong experience working across multiple regions in the Global North and Global South with different operational contexts and different organising models, with experience in distributed and directed network campaigning strongly preferred.

  • Passionate commitment to ending the era of fossil fuels.

  • Demonstrated experience in assessing and managing political, reputational, legal and security risks.

  • Strong commitment to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion, and experience of implementing measures to increase representation, retention, satisfaction and leadership of under-represented groups. Ability to manage across differences and work effectively with people with diverse racial, ethnic, class, age, gender, and sexual orientation backgrounds.

  • Strong inter-personal and stakeholder management skills; ability to manage conflict and drive internal change through persuasion, learning, dialogue, and strong accountability practices rather than direct line management authority.

  • Sharp understanding of global political and policy landscapes. Proven ability to identify campaigning and movement-building opportunities and translate those into actionable strategic plans.

  • Good networking and coalition-building skills, including the ability to cultivate and establish partnerships with donors, external partners, media, and other stakeholders.

  • Appetite for innovation and disruption in service of campaigns that win.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with an ability to translate complex data into clear and simple messages for a wide range of audiences.

  • Ability to oversee a remote, multi-disciplinary team to manage complex projects, prioritize, and focus effectively across a wide range of responsibilities.

  • Comfort and ease working in a fast-paced and resource-constrained environment
