OVO's AI journey has progressed significantly in 2024. In this new team looking to launch AI tooling for back office teams and end to end automation, we are looking for an Analyst who can help identify opportunities for us to apply new solutions against and support our strategy of innovating with AI to build a better OVO, and deliver better services for our customers.
This role in a nutshell
You will join a multi-disciplinary AI squad focused on building agents that proactively resolve back-office processes. As a Data Analyst on the team, you will use analytical techniques in order to measure product performance, identify and quantify product opportunities and support strategy. You will be working in a cross functional team including data scientists and software engineers. Your expertise will help us drive the delivery of our product, ensuring OVO Energy remains a leader in providing seamless and tailored experiences for our customers.
Your key outcomes will be
- Use a blend of analytical techniques to create actionable insights that help us refine the strategy for our AI Product.
- Define and implement measures that help us to understand the performance of our product, in a scalable way and to a production standard.
- Support the team in using data in all stages of the product life cycle (scoping, planning, building, post-release analysis).
- Implement reporting and visualisation that help a cross functional team better serve their customers.
- Work with core stakeholders to support the vision and deliverables of the team, supporting through rigorous data analysis presented in comprehensible ways to facilitate discussion around core performance levels.
- Solve business problems within multi-disciplinary teams, aligning to the company strategy. This involves working in cross-functional teams in close collaboration with our Operations team.
- Use understanding of business processes and multiple data sources (internal or third-party) to generate insights and develop data products.
- Adopt ethical best practice in the way all data is used and processed, always ensuring compliance, security and our customers are placed first.
Systems
Proficiency of SQL is required and being conversant in Python is beneficial. We use Google Cloud, BigQuery, Dataform, Github, Tableau, ThoughtSpot, Looker -any familiarity with these or equivalent technologies is preferred.*
You'll be a successful Data Analyst here at OVO if you...
- Have a quantitative background (degree or equivalent) and proven experience solving real-world problems in customer-centric businesses.
- Are highly numerate & analytical, able to delve into the details but able to zoom out to understand the bigger picture.
- Have strong presentation and communication skills - able to articulate results clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders, often using visualisation tools (Looker, Tableau, ThoughtSpot, etc).
- Are excited by the opportunity to apply Generative AI within analytical workflows to drive efficiency and unlock new insights.
- Can create and interpret graphical representations of data and make recommendations.
- The ability to use data to form and test hypotheses in a statistically sound way.
- You think about the customer first, so all your analysis and contributions to the product have a direct line with the customer experience.
- Are excited to work in a fast-paced and data-driven environment; where prioritisation is essential.
- Think beyond the one-off report and enjoy building insights that last, and to make this happen you collaborate with Data Scientists and Engineers using common languages (SQL, Python) and version control tools.

We'll pay you between £34,000 and £42,000, depending on your specific skills and experience.
We keep our pay ranges broad on purpose to give us, and you, flexibility to match your experience to our zero carbon mission.
You'll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
