As Legal Counsel, you will contribute to FairWind's business objectives while protecting the company's reputation for integrity. You will act as a trusted legal advisor, combining strong legal expertise with an entrepreneurial mindset, and proactively supporting the business in managing risks, seizing opportunities, and ensuring sound corporate governance and compliance.
Your qualifications
- Fully qualified lawyer with strong academic background
- Fluent English (oral and written), used in negotiations, legal advice, and contract drafting
- Strong ability to analyze legal issues in national and international contexts
- Business-oriented mindset with the ability to understand business models, strategies, and financials
- Solid negotiation skills and ability to make sound legal and commercial judgments
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain legal matters clearly to non-legal stakeholders
- Ability to identify legal, compliance, and integrity risks and propose practical solutions
- Ability to work efficiently, prioritize tasks, and operate in an international, multicultural environment
Desired Qualifications & Experience
- Up to four years of post‑qualification experience (PQE); however, we will also consider candidates with no prior work experience if they demonstrate strong academic credentials, relevant training, or other indicators of high potential
- Previous experience in a Legal Department of an international company or comparable experience gained in a reputable law firm
- Experience in complex projects or transactions involving a high degree of difficulty
- Experience working with stakeholders from diverse cultural, educational, and professional backgrounds, preferably across multiple countries
- In addition to fluent English, business-level proficiency in other languages relevant to FairWind's key markets (e.g. German, Spanish)
Your Role
- Act as a trusted legal advisor to internal business partners, providing pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice
- Ensure proper corporate governance and contribute to the development and maintenance of the FairWind Compliance Management System
- Monitor compliance risks, support internal policies and procedures, and report material legal issues
- Proactively identify legal risks and opportunities and propose effective mitigation measures
- Draft, review, negotiate, and approve commercial agreements and tender documentation
- Manage claims (defensive and offensive), disputes, and legal proceedings
- Select, instruct, and manage external legal counsel, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality legal support
- Prepare reports on material legal risks, claims, and litigation in line with internal governance requirements
