You will play an important role in

  • GIS Origination Analyst will focus on identifying and progressing new development opportunities for onshore renewable energy projects, primarily wind projects within the UK
  • The role offers a diverse spectrum of work including, strategic site searching, evaluation of sites and the preparation of feasibility assessments
  • Leverage mapping systems, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and CAD to prepare maps and drawings for project deliverables, building custom models to aid site origination and land referencing
  • Utilising a variety of GIS tools to deliver crucial geospatial outputs that ensure the integrity of our spatial data.
  • Managing data with finesse, including digitising and capturing spatial and attribute data using the latest GIS tools, all while upholding our high data quality standards.
  • Tapping into your interpretative skills to extract insights from diverse sources like historical maps, contemporary deeds, plans, and aerial imagery, enhancing our understanding of asset impact.
  • Collaborating seamlessly with Managing Agents to ensure a smooth, two-way flow of GIS data, information, and knowledge.
  • Excelling in prioritisation and workload management to meet deadlines and support various Crown Estate portfolios and corporate functions.
  • Proven experience, ideally with minimum of 2-3 years' experience in GIS/ CAD systems
  • Worked within a renewables company, land agency, chartered town planning or chartered surveying organisation is desirable
  • Working within the Origination team although the role will transcend into Development and Deployment

To succeed in this position, you need

  • Experience with renewable energy, particularly wind is desirable but not essential
  • Good understanding of using Esri software, specifically ArcGIS Pro, and geoprocessing techniques.
  • Good knowledge and experience of onshore planning/ consenting/ TCPA/ DNS/ DCO/ Land Referencing activities relevant to onshore wind farms.
  • Proven experience in producing high-quality GIS outputs, deploying the most suitable tools and techniques.
  • A deep understanding of data management practices, including metadata, standards, and projections, with a keen sense of their importance within GIS.
  • Bonus points for experience with Python, SSMS, or FME.
  • Proficiency in analysing datasets and presenting information compellingly.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to determine effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including teamwork and a customer service mindset.
  • Outstanding organisational skills, attention to detail, and a broader understanding of business implications.
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm, and an approachable working style, with a willingness to innovate.
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively with minimal supervision in a remote environment.
  • Required: a Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline (e.g. GIS, geography, planning) or related experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience in GIS, site origination, consenting or other relevant infrastructure sectors and working towards RICS, RTPI accreditation.
  • Based out of our brand new Ringwood office, the GIS Origination Analyst will work closely with several teams including the wider Origination team, Development and Deployment teams. Some travel to sites and our Edinburgh Office will be required.
