Job Description

GOLDBECK SOLAR is a leading provider of turnkey solar systems on commercial roofs and ground mounted utility scale PV power plants. With our team of dedicated employees, we develop, plan, build, operate and finance photovoltaic systems in Germany, Europe and worldwide - tailor-made with a standardized approach.

What you can expect

We are looking for an experienced ICP Engineer (m/f/d) to support our projects in the UK. In this role, you will act as the main technical interface between the EPC, ICP subcontractors and network operators such as National Grid. You will ensure that grid connection activities are delivered safely, compliantly and on time. The role involves close collaboration with construction, planning and project management teams.

Your tasks

  • Main technical interface between EPC, ICPs and DNO/IDNO
  • Manage grid connection communication, approvals and meetings
  • Define and control the technical scope (contestable / non-contestable works)
  • Manage ICP contracts and subcontractor performance
  • Review and approve HV/LV designs and technical documentation
  • Ensure compliance with ENA, G99/G100, DNO/IDNO and client standards
  • Coordinate design reviews and technical approvals
  • Support G99 submissions, testing and commissioning
  • Technically oversee construction, commissioning and energisation
  • Manage technical risks, changes and pre-energisation close-out
  • Support project managers with grid-related planning and milestones
  • Identify cost optimisation and value engineering opportunities
  • Manage construction budgets
  • Work closely with planning, design and commercial teams

Profile

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related subject
  • Strong experience in grid connections (3-5 years minimum, more is a plus)
  • Background with ICPs, DNOs, IDNOs, network operators or Solar EPCs
  • Very good written and spoken English
  • Strong project management skills for contracted ICPs
  • Confident and assertive when managing contractors
  • Able to work independently and take ownership
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Able to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Good IT skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel across the UK
  • Full driving licence is a plus
