Careers at Sunly

We are looking for a Head of Electricity Operations to lead Sunly Retail's electricity operations, ensuring that electricity market rules, customer-facing retail processes and IT systems work seamlessly together. You will be responsible for operational outcomes across billing accuracy, system reliability, regulatory compliance, and day-to-day electricity product operations as we scale across Estonia and the Baltics.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role with real ownership. It is not a build-from-scratch product role and not a pure people-management position. You will take responsibility for existing systems and processes, improve them where they fall short, introduce automation where it makes sense, and ensure that complex electricity-market requirements are translated into clear, scalable operations.

What you will work on

  • Ensuring the performance and reliability of Sunly Retail's electricity operations, delivering billing accuracy, customer-facing clarity, system stability and scalable operations across a growing customer base.
  • Acting as product owner for core operational and customer systems, with responsibility for the operational development roadmap, defining requirements and driving improvements together with IT partners and vendors, including spot and offsite park product operations.
  • Translating electricity market rules into clear, scalable processes, ensuring smooth interaction with market operators, switching and settlement processes, pricing transparency and data integrity.
  • Setting direction for and leading a small cross-functional operations team, continuously improving workflows, strengthening automation, reducing risk and tracking operational performance and key risks.

What describes you

  • 3+ years of experience in electricity retail operations, utilities, trading or another regulated industry.
  • Deep understanding of electricity retail operations, including billing, metering data, settlement, switching, pricing models and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience driving operational outcomes across billing, IT, legal and product functions, aligning stakeholders and ensuring reliable execution in a regulated environment.
  • Technical fluency with hands-on experience in billing and customer systems, and the ability to translate regulatory and business requirements into clear system logic and processes.
  • Continuous improvement mindset - you are comfortable working with existing systems, identifying root causes and driving structured improvements.
  • Hands-on leader who combines operational detail with accountability and sound decision-making.
  • Fluency in Estonian and English, both written and spoken.

What we offer

  • Support for your wellbeing, inside and outside work - a quarterly sports allowance via Stebby, comprehensive employer-provided health insurance (including dental care and specialist visits), and access to mental health counselling and coaching via siffi.com.
  • Time to rest and reset - 28 working days of annual leave, counted only in working days and usable flexibly, plus additional paid days off, including health days and leave for important life events.
  • Room to grow professionally - meaningful, hands-on challenges and a dedicated training budget for courses, certifications, and conferences, alongside internal learning opportunities to support your development.
  • Flexible hybrid work - we work in a hybrid way, with no fixed rules on office days. You are trusted to balance remote work with time in the office, and while much can be done remotely, a lot happens in the office and being there regularly makes collaboration easier.
  • Work that contributes to the energy transition - you will be part of a team building and scaling renewable energy across the region, working on services that support a more sustainable energy system.

If you are excited about contributing to the renewable energy sector, we would love to hear from you! We review applications on an ongoing basis, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
