The Opportunity
Zenobē is looking for a skilled and driven Field Service Technician to join the Portable Power team. This role is remote-based, ideally located in the North of the UK, and will focus on attending customer sites for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, installation, commissioning and decommissioning support. You will become a product specialist in mobile BESS and temporary power, providing on-site customer training and handover and supporting the planning and delivery of specialised projects. You will also be part of the wider team providing remote customer support, including participation in an on-call rota as required. Regular travel to customer sites and occasional visits to our Portsmouth facility will be required.
A Taste of the Day to Day
- Field Service Delivery (Planned & Reactive)
- Attend customer sites to carry out scheduled servicing, inspections and functional testing of mobile BESS and associated temporary power equipment.
- Respond to breakdowns and unscheduled maintenance, diagnosing faults efficiently and coordinating repairs to minimise downtime.
- Complete site RAMS / permits to work and ensure all work is completed safely, compliantly and to a high standard.
- Installation, Commissioning and Decommissioning Support
- Support mobilisation, installation and set-up of mobile BESS at customer sites, including verification of electrical connections, earthing and safety.
- Configure system parameters to suit the application
- Oversee safe shutdown, decommissioning and readiness for return-to-fleet, ensuring equipment is left in a safe state for transport.
- Support the planning and delivery of specialised projects outside of business-as-usual operations
- Customer Training and Relationship Support
- Deliver on-site customer training and support during handover
- As part of wider team, act as technical liaison between customers, L1 support, BD and engineering.
- Provide ad-hoc remote technical support, including scheduled on-call periods out of hours.
- Documentation and Process Improvement
- Complete service reports, fault logs and deployment records
- Support development of standard operating procedures

- An Electrical Engineer or Electrician with strong site-based/field service experience
- 2-5+ years' experience in temporary power, energy storage or field service engineering
- Comfortable working independently and managing a mobile schedule across multiple customer sites
- Strong customer-facing skills, including the ability to communicate effectively under pressure
- BS7671 Qualification
- Valid full UK driving licence, vehicle and willingness to travel (including occasional overnight stays as required)
- Excellent organisational skills and a strong safety-first mindset
- Good understanding of:
- Temporary power
- Hybrid and microgrid systems (BESS, grid, generators)
- SCADA, monitoring and control systems
- AC and DC power distribution and safety
- BS7909 qualification and experience desired but not mandatory
- Electrotechnical Craft C&G 2365 qualification desired but not mandatory
- CSCS Gold Card desired but not mandatory
