We're looking for a Theme Lead- Drivetrains to take ownership of this strategic theme within ORE Catapult- a role that blends vision, influence, and leadership to deliver impact across the offshore renewable energy sector.
The role
- Own the vision for the Drivetrains strategic theme and align it with ORE Catapult's overarching strategy.
- Shape and influence strategy, identifying innovation opportunities where ORE can lead globally and pinpointing gaps we need to close.
- Negotiate and collaborate across directorates to secure resources, resolve challenges, and build consensus.
- Track progress against strategic objectives, escalating issues when delivery is at risk.
- Identify business development priorities, including commercial opportunities, national programmes, and partnerships with OEMs, developers, and supply chain companies.
- Champion research and engineering capabilities, identifying gaps and building collaborations nationally and internationally.
- Assess and plan for assets and capital projects, ensuring investments support your theme and differentiate ORE Catapult globally.
- Maintain market intelligence, including top UK supply chain companies and key international OEMs, supporting their growth in collaboration with Innovate UK and others.
- Lead external engagement, acting as spokesperson at events and conferences, and positioning ORE Catapult as a thought leader in your theme area.
Requirements
What are we looking for?
- Excellent customer, stakeholder and market knowledge in the strategic theme area of Drivetrains.
- Strong business acumen allowing for meaningful impact to be made in the strategic theme area in decision-making, financial awareness, cross functional collaboration, risk management, leadership and impact.
- Technical expertise and depth in the strategic theme area allowing for significant value to the organisation in driving innovation, solving complex problems, accelerating delivery, enhancing decision-making, improved collaboration, quality and compliance assurance.
- The ability to lead matrix teams effectively through strong communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, combined with experience in navigating complex organisational structures, aligning cross-functional goals, and fostering collaboration across diverse teams without direct authority.
- Known and respected externally and internally within the strategic theme area.
