We are proud to announce the launch of the Vestas Blades Process Engineering Factory in Goleniów - a new organization where we will develop, build, and invest in the future of wind turbine blade production. Our aim is to create a world-class engineering hub with robust processes and capabilities, delivering consistent, high-quality support across all manufacturing sites while setting new standards in manufacturing excellence
The Documentation team is responsible for creating and maintaining production documentation, including Production Work Instructions (PWI), Process and Product Inspection (PII) documents, as well as updating generic inspections in our QDA system standards. The department also ensures proper maintenance of PFMEA, working closely with process engineers to secure accurate inputs.
As part of the Lay-up Department, the Documentation team will consist of 3-5 engineers specializing in manufacturing process documentation. The full Lay-up Department will include 10-16 highly skilled engineers, organized into five specialised teams: Process, Tooling, Documentation, Operational Support, and Training
Responsibilities
You will play a key role in improving the manufacturing processes for wind turbine blades via the quality of the documentation. If you do not have a deep knolled withing Blades manufacturing principles, you will have a high motivation to get it - go to shopfloor. You will have an emphasis on modern documentation principles and technologies, drive towards standardization to ensure fast updates or creation of documentation to shopfloor to support process stability and capability to improve overall business performance; Safety Quality Delivery and Cost (SQDC)
- Creation and updating documentation to Shopfloor (workers, quality and process teams) within lay-up operations
- Updated documentation is always available on the shop floor
- Adhere to the documentation principles described and be an engaged part in getting feedback from shop floors and lay-up team on the function / quality of the documentation delivered
- Perform in internal quality check of the documentation and perform internal maturity check of the documentation up against our documented criteria described
- Keep stakeholder up to date on documentation lead time and be part of building a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability
- You will take learning from modern documentation systems and material including process vision, laser systems and other digital enabling systems
- Investigating and solving production issues using structured methods such as the 5x Whys, Fishbone Diagrams and applying continuous improvement principles using quality tools like Lean to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and ensure final product quality
Qualifications
- Bachelor in Engineering or a related field
- GB Lean and courses in technical writing or communication
- About 3-5 years of experience in similar roles as described above
- Fluent English; Polish language will be valuable
- CAD/CATIA understanding and willingness to travel to support multiple Vestas sites
- Experience creating process flows, establishing and maintaining work instructions (paper or digital), and optimizing and standardizing within manufacturing documentation using relevant tools
- Experience validating own work, knowledge of Control Plans, and working in a data-driven organization
Competencies
- Solid writing and communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information
- Technical ability, including translating technical jargon into clear, user-friendly documentation
- High attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in production documentation
- Willingness to spend time in the factory environment to understand processes and solve problems
- Experience with problem-solving tools such as 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams
- Self-motivated, result-oriented, and highly organized
- Effective collaboration skills and ability to build networks across teams, cultures, and time zones
