This is a pivotal role for an experienced leader in the delivery of our data-driven solutions. You'll take end-to-end responsibility for major projects, from defining the business problem through to deploying robust models or Generative AI solutions and rigorously measuring their impact. This role demands deep proficiency in the use of Generative AI models and complex statistical analysis, ensuring you can deliver actionable, high-value insights and implement sophisticated data solutions. Beyond technical delivery, you'll be instrumental in optimising and scaling our existing models, identifying crucial patterns and trends and effectively communicating findings to influence strategic decisions. A critical part of your contribution will also involve supporting the data science community. This role requires an essential balance of deep technical expertise, leadership and powerful communication skills.
This role in a nutshell
The Senior Data Scientist will be a key contributor to the delivery of data-driven solutions, taking end-to-end project responsibility from problem definition to model deployment and impact measurement. This role requires a proficient individual with extensive experience in advanced machine learning and statistical analysis, capable of delivering actionable insights and implementing complex data solutions. The Senior Data Scientist will not only optimise and scale models but also identify key patterns and trends, effectively communicate findings to stakeholders, and mentor junior data scientists. This role requires a balance of deep technical expertise, leadership, and strong communication skills.
This role will involve working with multidisciplinary teams involved in the creation of AI-driven products, so an understanding of the concepts involved in bringing AI-based solutions to market would be useful.

- Successfully deliver high-impact data science projects that drive measurable business value.
- Develop and deploy robust and scalable machine learning models or Generative AI solutions that optimise business processes and improve decision-making.
- Generate actionable insights from complex datasets that inform strategic business initiatives.
- Elevate the data science capabilities of the team through effective mentorship and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to OVO's Data Science Community of Practice to establish and maintain best practices for data science methodologies, ensuring high-quality and efficient project execution.
- Contribute to the improvement of data infrastructure, and data governance.

- Have extensive experience in data analysis, advanced modeling, machine learning and generative AI.
- Have proven success leading data science projects from concept to deployment, delivering genuinely impactful business results.
- Exhibit advanced expertise across a range of machine learning techniques and algorithms.
- Are proficient in deep statistical analysis and complex data modeling.
- Show solid programming skills in Python and have advanced proficiency in SQL for powerful data querying.
- Are experienced in experimental design and implementation (like advanced A/B testing).
- Excel at identifying critical trends and patterns in large datasets and translating them into clear, actionable insights.
- Have a natural ability to mentor and guide data scientists, helping the whole team grow.
- Possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills to tackle our most challenging problems.
- Are an effective communicator, able to present complex findings clearly and persuasively to both technical colleagues and business partners.

- Are detail oriented, ensuring the accuracy and quality of every output.

- Have experience and understanding of agentic engineering, workflows or similar.

We'll pay you between ??58,830 and ??84,720, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
