Job Description
As the Team Lead Energy Portfolio Management, you will be responsible for advancing our power hedging strategy and managing exposure across all core markets of Encavis. Your primary objective is to establish an optimized position management system with a direct profit and loss (PnL) responsibility, focusing on the delivery years ahead.
Your sunny outlook
- Build and lead a Quantitative Team dedicated to realizing our shared vision of algorithmic-based portfolio management;
- Collaborate with Originators to structure positions and manage exposure. This involves quantitatively assessing various hedging scenarios using different instruments, such as Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), for individual projects or portfolios within our European-wide asset base;
- Work in partnership with other departments to enhance algorithmic trade execution of hedges, adapting to market conditions and evaluating new products to mitigate exposure;
- Develop and implement a central Encavis PPA pricing methodology and tool for all commercial departments;
- Analyze trends and developments in electricity markets, monitor long-term price movements, and formulate the Encavis market outlook to inform hedging strategies;
- Utilize quantitative techniques to optimize energy trading portfolio performance and develop innovative strategies. This includes evaluating and analyzing various hedging products and their pricing, with support from the Energy Risk Management team;
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for hedging performance and set up automated position reporting processes.
We'll get wind of that soon
- You hold a degree in mathematics, physical sciences, or a comparable field;
- At least three years of professional experience in roles such as energy trading, risk management, or developing hedging strategies with own PnL responsibility set you apart;
- Analytical thinking is your strength - you have hands-on experience in statistical analysis and apply stochastic and fundamental models to assess risk/return metrics. Knowledge of meteorological or commodity market data is a plus;
- Expertise in assessing risks and creating hedging strategies, including solving complex challenges in energy trading and portfolio management. Ability to effectively communicate complex quantitative concepts to non-technical stakeholders;
- Proficiency in extracting and manipulating data from various sources. Experience in data extraction from APIs, CSV files, and databases, with solid knowledge of SQL, R, and Python, is preferred;
- Excellent English communication skills to operate successfully in an international environment. German language skills are considered an asset.
