What They Do
Catator AB specializes in advanced hydrogen catalysis technologies, focusing on the development of patented reactors, reformers, and burners that enhance hydrogen production, conversion, and utilization. Over the past three decades, the company has positioned itself as a key player in the green hydrogen sector, providing compact and efficient solutions that cater to various applications including transportation, electrolysis, and fuel cells (source: catator.com). Their primary services revolve around contract development and technology integration partnerships, collaborating with industry leaders to commercialize hydrogen infrastructure rather than manufacturing end-products for direct sale (source: crustdata.com). Target markets include international customers in the green energy sector, particularly global companies seeking development partners for hydrogen transition projects, which span heavy transportation, stationary power, and industrial energy systems (source: cbinsights.com). Catator differentiates itself through over 30 years of refined catalytic technologies that enable smaller, more cost-effective hydrogen systems compared to traditional methods, maintaining a competitive edge in Scandinavia's Øresund Region innovation ecosystem (source: catator.com).
Projects & Track Record
While specific completed projects are not detailed in recent public sources, Catator's track record emphasizes long-term technology refinement since its inception in 1990. The company is currently focused on scaling commercialization through partnerships with global industry leaders for hydrogen infrastructure deployment, although individual project names, capacities, or timelines remain undisclosed (source: catator.com). Key clients primarily consist of international firms in the hydrogen and fuel cell sectors, with partnerships aimed at collaborative development for electrolysis, fuel cells, and energy applications (source: cbinsights.com). Geographically, operations are concentrated in Lund, Sweden, with plans for expansion via the upcoming move to Science Village, which is expected to enhance global talent recruitment and operational capabilities (source: catator.com).
Recent Developments
In the last two years, Catator has announced a significant expansion strategy, including the relocation of its headquarters and laboratories to Science Village in Lund, scheduled for August. This move is part of a broader recruitment drive that has successfully doubled the staff size to support growth in hydrogen catalysis (source: catator.com). Although no acquisitions, mergers, or specific funding rounds have been reported in recent sources, the company is positioning itself for potential investment opportunities through investor relations contacts (source: catator.com). Milestones include solidifying its role as a technology integration partner after over 30 years in the industry, with forward-looking statements on contributing to global hydrogen infrastructure, although no awards or certifications have been detailed in the past two years (source: cision.com).
Working There
Catator actively hires in Lund, Sweden, targeting roles for highly educated professionals in research, engineering, development, and operations, particularly those with expertise in hydrogen technologies, catalysis, and green energy. The company is undergoing a fast-paced recruitment drive to double its team size (source: catator.com). Departments likely span technology development, laboratories (Catator Labs), marketing, investor relations, and executive leadership, inferred from mentions of academic-industry talent and key contacts like CEO Tarras Delin and Julia Erikson in marketing/investor relations (source: catator.com). The primary hiring location is Lund, leveraging the Øresund Region's talent pool near universities and science parks, with an emphasis on attracting global minds from diverse cultural backgrounds to serve international clients (source: catator.com). Company culture indicators suggest a dynamic, growth-oriented environment in Scandinavia's top green energy hub, prioritizing technical evolution, organizational scaling, and diversity to meet global demands, as stated by CEO Tarras Delin (source: catator.com); specific benefits are not documented in public sources.
