ABOUT THE ROLE
As Contract and Claim Manager (OPS), you will play a key role in strengthening project delivery, contractual compliance, and margin protection across the organisation. You will support Project Managers as the primary contract owners by building contract and claim capability, setting standards, and providing expert advice in higher‑risk or more complex situations.
You will act as a trusted advisor and sparring partner to Project Managers, working closely with Legal and other stakeholders to ensure consistent best practice in change control, notices, and claim preparation. When matters escalate to formal dispute resolution, you will take the lead on the contract and claim workstream in close cooperation with Legal.
TYPICAL DUTIES
- Supporting and strengthening contract and claim management capability across the PM community
- Delivering contractual training for Project Managers in cooperation with Legal
- Developing, maintaining and promoting standards, templates, playbooks and minimum requirements
- Providing ad hoc contractual and claims support on projects with higher risk, complexity or customer escalation
- Advising on contract interpretation, change control, notices, extensions of time (EOT) and liquidated damages (LD) exposure
- Reviewing and supporting key contractual correspondence and claim documentation when required
- Monitoring and supporting notice compliance, scheduling discipline and variation capture on supported projects
- Leading the contract and claim workstream in formal disputes, including arbitration, in close cooperation with Legal
- Coordinating case files, evidence and external counsel support when disputes are escalated
- Acting as a sparring partner in claim strategy, negotiation and settlement discussions
- Capturing and sharing lessons learned to continuously improve contractual maturity across the organisation
Requirements
- A relevant degree or equivalent experience in contracts, commercial management, construction, engineering or a related field
- Solid experience in contract and claim management, preferably within construction, EPC, energy or the wind industry
- Strong understanding of construction processes, contract law, change control and claims management
- Proven experience supporting or managing claims, variations, notices, EOTs and LD exposure, ideally against strong counterparties (OEMs, EPCs, asset owners)
- The ability to advise, coach and train Project Managers on contractual matters
- Strong analytical, negotiation and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, professional contractual documentation
- A structured and detail‑oriented approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in parallel
- Confidence working closely with Legal, Finance, Sales, Project Managers and Site Managers
- Fluent English, both written and spoken
- Willingness and ability to travel as required
