About the role

The Project Manager is responsible for safely and successfully delivering Energy Solutions Major Projects from contract award through to handover to the customer and Asset Management, ensuring strong commercial outcomes and exceptional customer experiences. The role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality specifications, in line with AGL and customer expectations, through the effective development and execution of project plans, schedules, budgets and specifications.

Working autonomously across highly complex projects and contractual environments, the Project Manager manages multi‑contractor interfaces, maintains strong stakeholder relationships across internal and external parties, and owns the customer interface post‑sales handover to ensure professional, consistent communication. The role also provides coaching and guidance to other Project Managers and Associates, contributing to capability uplift across the project delivery function.

What you will be doing

  • Customer Experience and Stakeholder Management - Manage the customer interface through regular, professional communication, formal change impact notifications, effective issue resolution, stakeholder engagement, and feedback capture to support customer satisfaction and future opportunities.
  • HSE -Implement and monitor project specific HSE requirements in line with AGL and customer standards, ensuring contractor compliance, effective incident management, corrective action closure, and continuous sharing of safety learnings.
  • Scope & Quality Management - Manage scope, quality and variation processes by ensuring documentation completeness, clarifying requirements with SMEs, and coordinating defect resolution in line with approved standards.
  • Budget and Financial Management - Monitor and manage project budgets, cash flow, invoicing, cost variances, and renewable certificate processes to maintain profitability and financial control.
  • Project Scheduling - Develop, maintain and report on project, procurement and construction schedules, managing milestones, critical path activities and impacts to customers and stakeholders.
  • Commercial Acumen - Interpret and apply AGL and non AGL contract terms, issue formal customer notifications, and identify and escalate financial or reputational risks arising from contractual obligations.
  • Supplier, Subcontractor & Construction Management - Lead subcontractor engagement, coordination and performance across procurement, site delivery, payment milestones, defect management and interface resolution to ensure successful construction outcomes.
  • Project Delivery Process Knowledge & Governance - Apply and govern defined project delivery processes, maintaining accurate system records and applying controlled process adjustments where required.
  • Project Team Leadership, Team Building & Internal Stakeholder Management - Lead collaborative project teams through effective coordination, knowledge sharing, stakeholder engagement, lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Project Systems and Accuracy of Data - Maintain accurate and UpToDate project, procurement and schedule data across MS Project, NetSuite, Procore and other relevant systems.

What we would like to see you bring

  • Proven and tenured experience in project management or project engineering roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Site based experience working in either of construction and mining sectors, Hybrid Energy Solution (HES), Utility Scale Solar and Wind Farms, BESS, Electrical Infrastructure, Major High Voltage, Thermal Powerplants.
  • Sound understanding of high voltage electrical distribution networks.
  • Working knowledge of control systems and SCADA.
  • Knowledge of relevant national and state regulations within the industry.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety practices.
  • Experience managing third-party consultants and subcontractors.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to clearly present and communicate information.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently, including in remote locations where required.
  • Holds Construction Induction Training (White Card).
  • Ability to contribute positively to team culture and work in alignment with AGL values. Preferred:
  • Project management tertiary qualifications PMP, Cert IV.
