Your Missions

The Substation operators are responsible for operating and maintaining the equipment that keeps our power grid running smoothly. They monitor and control electrical current, voltage, and other aspects of the power supply at substations and must be able to respond quickly to changing conditions in order to keep the power flowing properly. They may also need to perform routine maintenance or coordinate with subcontractors to repair or replace parts as needed.

  • Interface with Grid Operator and all the local stakeholders involved in the implementation of O&M activities;
  • Operate and monitor equipment in a safe, efficient manner in accordance with company and/or OST policies and procedures;
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new processes and procedures with regulatory and safety;
  • Monitor equipment to maintain optimal performance and efficiency;
  • Keep accurate records of equipment readings and maintenance activities;
  • Perform routine cheek's on equipment;
  • Keep updated the inventory of spare parts;
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures;
  • Support the supervision and coordination with subcontractors to repair or replace parts as needed;
  • Operating switching devices that disconnect power from equipment or reroute it to other circuits in response to signals from computers or Dispatch Operator;
  • Maintaining records of work activities, including accident reports, repair schedules, and work orders;
  • Checking meters to make sure they are accurate and recording any discrepancies;
  • Monitoring equipment operation to ensure that it is operating properly;
  • Responding to emergencies such as natural disasters, lightnings and fires by operating equipment that can restore power quickly;
  • Correct implementation of good practices, legal, Health, Safety and Environmental requirements;
  • Takes written notes in the operative book, and according to type of work opening the work permit official document for the maintenance team of the Substation;
  • For every technical defect and/or faults in OHL, Substation equipment's, which have dependence by TSO, notifying the National Dispatcher Center NDC of TSO and Plant manager and/or Remote Operation and Maintenance Engineering, according to the notification scheme approved by Voltalia and giving the following details:
  1. Identification of the OHL and/or substation equipment (detailed name, code etc.).
  2. Type and cause of OHL and/or equipment of substation protection action.
  3. Other necessary protection details such as electric parameters registered, fault distance for OHL defect, etc.
  • In the hardest situation where from the transmission grid is loosed the system voltage supply, or where in a signifiable manner are changed the main technical parameters of the power system grid, notifying immediately the National Dispatcher Center of OST and wait for further instruction from them.
