We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to accelerate our growth across New Zealand and contribute to the future of sustainable energy solutions on a full-time basis.

As a key member of our commercial team, you will drive new business growth, nurture existing customer relationships, and lead key strategic opportunities. Not only will you be the face of Thundergrid across industry sectors, but you will also be helping organisations transition to cleaner and more efficient energy systems.

This role combines strategic account leadership with hands‑on business development. You will identify new opportunities, scope and present solutions, draft proposals and implementation plans, negotiate contracts, and provide expert advice on Thundergrid's products and services, whilst working closely with private businesses, government agencies, industry partners, and internal stakeholders to achieve strong revenue outcomes in a fast‑moving market!

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Business Development:

    • Prospect and secure new business through networking, industry events, social media outreach, and proactive cold calling.
    • Respond to customer service and sales enquiries as required.
    • Build long‑term partnerships across property, energy, and infrastructure sectors.
    • Prepare accurate sales forecasts and support pricing strategies.
    • Follow up customer proposals, quotes, and leads to close new business.
    • Engage regularly with key clients to understand satisfaction levels, explore growth opportunities, and support ongoing service needs.
    • Work with the help desk to resolve customer issues efficiently.
    • Maintain accurate CRM records, including sales activity, pipeline, and projections.
    • Share industry insights, including emerging trends and technologies.
    • Achievement of annual sales and revenue targets.
    • Quality and accuracy of forecasting.
  • Relationship Building & Partner Management:

    • Represent Thundergrid at events, conferences, government forums, and industry associations across New Zealand.
    • Build and maintain strong executive‑level customer relationships.
    • Lead major strategic bids across New Zealand and Australia.
    • Develop and maintain productive relationships with key partners and suppliers to support business execution.
    • Delivery of strategic objectives and customer satisfaction metrics.

About You

  • 5+ years in sales roles, ideally in technology, energy, utilities, motor trade, or property sectors.
  • Proven ability to build and strengthen relationships at all organisational levels.
  • Experience using HubSpot or similar CRM platforms (desirable).
  • Demonstrated success achieving sales targets in a B2B environment.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to craft compelling proposals and reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Full New Zealand driver's licence.
