Job Description
SP Energy Networks (SPEN) are working to achieve network targets set by the Scottish and UK Government as part of our journey to Net Zero. Our focus is on harnessing technology and innovation to create the networks of the future. SPEN is building a dynamic network to meet the changing demands for electricity and increasingly, renewable electricity - safely, securely and sustainably in the communities we serve.
A Stakeholder Communications and Engagement Manager lead SP Energy Networks to deliver consistently high levels of communications and engagement (internally and externally), developing specific communication and engagement strategies including informing, consulting, influencing and involving key stakeholders where relevant and evaluating the effectiveness of these strategies.
This position has direct reports (line manager responsibility) and indirect reports.
What you'll be doing
- Develop and deliver short, medium and long term plans to promote the SP Energy Networks brand and alignment with local communities and stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver strong internal and external communications strategies to ensure key messages are delivered in a tailored and timely way to key audience groups.
- Lead the development, and evaluate the effectiveness, of appropriate stakeholder forums, meetings and special events that support outperformance of stakeholder engagement and communications objectives.
- Promote continual performance improvement and encourage integration of innovation to support the execution of stakeholder and communication strategies that result in outperformance of regulatory obligations and incentives.
- Development and implementation of initiatives that will ensure outperformance against regulatory obligations and incentives.
- Undertake research projects, including developing and implementing strategies for continually improving stakeholder and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain and promote robust local stakeholder and customer relationships on behalf of the company to facilitate delivery of customer and stakeholder strategic objectives.
- To create long term partners with relevant internal and external contacts, key to the successful execution of business objectives.
- To lead and manage a team to ensure each individual's potential is fully developed and inspire a culture that ensures the delivery of business outputs.
- Work collaboratively with ScottishPower Group and Iberdrola colleagues to align brand, messaging, communications with wider corporate objectives.
What you'll bring
As a Stakeholder and Communication Engagement Manager it is vital that you have excellent communication skills including written, verbal and presentation and being able to effectively translate technical language for a non-technical audience. You will be capable of managing and influencing challenging discussions and/or situations at all levels.
You will be an excellent team leader with strong inter-personal skills to enable you to motivate a team to successfully delivery communication interventions whilst building and maintaining credible and trusting working relationships (internally and externally).
To be successful, it is essential that you have:
- Professional qualification in Business / Consumer Studies, or equivalent qualification and / or experience
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and customer management skills demonstrated in previous role
- Proven experience in a comparable managerial role
- Computer literacy (MS Office Package)
