Job Description

This role requires understanding, troubleshooting, maintenance and change implementation of the current SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system developed on Ignition Platform and should be able to troubleshoot the CodeSys related issues. The person should have experience of handling SCADA system. Experience in Energy Management would be additional advantage.

  • Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining SCADA systems using Inductive Automation's Ignition platform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and deploy site-level and central monitoring systems.
  • Develop and configure HMI screens, data tags, alarms, and reports to meet operational and project requirements.
  • Integrate data from various field devices (PLCs, RTUs, sensors, databases, etc.) into the SCADA system.
  • Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and enhancements of live SCADA systems.
  • Maintain documentation, standards, and version control for SCADA configurations and deployments.
  • Adhere to industry best practices, cybersecurity guidelines, and safety protocols.
  • Work closely with operations and support teams to analyze system issues and implement corrective actions.

Responsibilities

  • Ignition Certification - essential CORE Certification and desirable GOLD Certification
  • The engineer should be able to Designs, program and maintains SCADA/HMI (Human Machine Interface) user interface using Ignition Designer.
  • This person should have expertise in designing and implementing web interfaces using Ignition Perspective.
  • Should have expertise in scripting in Python within Ignition.
  • Experience in Interfacing with the OPC Server/Client and other external systems.
  • Experience in Tag Historian and report function implementation
  • Integration of Maria db /Influx db with the SCADA backend using SQL Bridge.
  • Backup and Restore operations.
  • Managing alarms, indicators, and alert notification.
  • Integration with email and other messaging services.
  • Experience of handling industrial protocols like Modbus, Profibus, EthernetIP, DNP3, etc.
  • Experience in setting up and integration with OPC Server and OPC Client.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of SCADA architecture, including client-server communication, tag structures, and database connectivity.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC UA, DNP3, MQTT, etc.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying, historization, and report generation.
  • Basic understanding of PLC programming and control logic (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, etc.).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages, especially Python (Ignition's scripting environment).
  • Familiarity with database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server) and integration with SCADA.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, VPN, firewalls, etc.) and system security principles.
  • Exposure to Azure cloud is a plus.

Prerequisites

  • Qualification - BE/B Tech/MCA.
  • The candidate should have a minimum of 4+ years of experience.
