What They Do

Cambi AS specializes in thermal hydrolysis processes for the treatment of wastewater sludge and organic waste, which enhances anaerobic digestion to produce biogas and high-quality biosolids. Their technology utilizes high-pressure steam to break down cell walls, significantly increasing digester throughput and biogas yield while reducing the volume of biosolids by half. This innovative approach not only eliminates odors but also enables the production of Class A fertilizers, making Cambi a leader in sustainable waste management solutions (source: cambi.com). The company serves a diverse range of clients, including municipal governments and water utilities, across 27 countries, processing wastewater solids for over 120 million people globally (source: cambi.com). Cambi's product offerings include modular systems that are customizable and scalable, catering to various operational needs in the waste management sector (source: cambi.com).

Projects & Track Record

Cambi's notable projects include the first full-scale thermal hydrolysis plant in Hamar, Norway, which was completed in 1994 and has undergone multiple upgrades, achieving an impressive 98% uptime. Other significant projects include facilities in Lillehammer and Sarpsborg in Norway, as well as installations in Fredericia and Næstved in Denmark, and Aberdeen in the UK, all completed by 2000 (source: cambi.com). A landmark project is the Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant in Dublin, Ireland, which serves 1.2 million people and was initiated in 2001. Additionally, Cambi has been selected to provide three thermal hydrolysis systems for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission's Biosolids Digester Facilities, marking its 10th project in the US, with delivery expected in 2027 (source: sfpuc.gov). Cambi's technology is recognized for its reliability and efficiency, with 89 facilities operational worldwide, showcasing its commitment to advancing environmental technology (source: portalvhds1fxb0jchzgjph.blob.core.windows.net).
