Job Description

As AI becomes a default collaborator, we need a single accountable design lead who ensures we gain speed without losing trust. The Human-centered Design AI Leader owns the intersection of AI tools and our Enterprise Design System, so AI-generated UI and code stays consistent, accessible, and aligned to our standards. This role also enables a governed model where AI produces first passes-like a junior designer-while our nearshore designers validate, refine, and continuously improve the system. The outcome is faster delivery with less rework and higher adoption.

In this role you will

  • Protect UX Quality & Trust: Prevent UX quality decline and trust issues arising from AI-generated fragmented outputs.
  • Govern the Design System: Ensure AI uses real enterprise components and enforce accessibility and interaction quality gates by owning the Enterprise Design System (EDS) and AI Toolchain.
  • Optimize Design Cycles: Drive faster design cycles, reduce rework, improve accessibility, and ensure consistent AI outputs.
  • Implement "Human-in-the-Loop" Validation: Establish a process for human validation of AI-generated drafts to ensure continuous quality improvements and learning. Develop a governed model where AI produces first passes for designers to validate, refine, and continuously improve.
  • Lead Rapid Prototyping: Personally lead and develop proof-of-concept (POC) prototypes using modern AI tools and frameworks (e.g., Figma Make, Claude, Google Stitch) to quickly validate ideas and demonstrate value before scaling.
  • Develop AI Governance and Safety Guardrails: Define, develop, and implement automated guardrails to ensure all AI-generated content meets brand, safety, legal, and privacy standards.
  • Establish and Track Success Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for AI initiatives, ranging from design-cycle efficiency gains to technical metrics like output consistency and error reduction rates.
  • Evangelize AI Solutions: Communicate complex technical concepts and design trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders, evangelizing the value and proper use of AI-powered design solutions across the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • AI/Design Certifications: Active certification in AI Product Design (e.g., Designlab, BrainStation, NN/g, IDEO U) or Human-Centered AI (e.g., MIT, Brown, Uxcel).
  • Technical AI Experience: Hands-on experience with LLM architectures, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems, or advanced prompt engineering.
  • Proven Track Record: A portfolio of shipped products or projects that demonstrate expertise in integrating AI into user-facing applications.
