Job Description

EPEX Home Performance is hiring a Permit and Inspection Tech to coordinate permits, inspections, and code compliance across our construction divisions: solar, roofing, windows, stucco, and related home improvement. You will keep projects moving by getting permits submitted right the first time, scheduling inspections, and making sure every job is ready and compliant before the inspector arrives. Great fit for someone organized, positive, and construction-minded who likes solving problems and learning multiple trades in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do

Permits

  • Prepare, submit, track, and follow up on permit applications with cities, counties, utilities, and other AHJs across our divisions.
  • Catch missing or incomplete documentation before submittal, and resolve corrections, rejections, and requests for information.
  • Keep accurate permit records and status updates for project managers, operations, sales, and customers.

Inspections

  • Schedule inspections with city, county, utility, and third-party inspectors.
  • Confirm jobs are ready before the inspector arrives, and communicate timing and requirements to homeowners, PMs, installers, and subcontractors.
  • Track outcomes, failed items, and reinspections, and follow up so corrections happen fast.

Code and trade knowledge

  • Learn basic code requirements across solar, electrical, roofing, windows, stucco, and general construction.
  • Research jurisdiction requirements and flag common inspection issues before they cause delays.

Communication and admin

  • Be the calm, professional point of contact for homeowners, inspectors, and AHJs, especially when there are delays or corrections.
  • Keep permit and inspection data current in our project management system, and help build checklists and SOPs that make the process smoother.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on permitting or inspection experience.
  • Background in solar, roofing, windows, stucco, electrical, or general construction.
  • Familiarity with New Mexico jurisdictions (Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Santa Fe, Las Cruces, Bernalillo County, and surrounding areas).
  • Experience working with inspectors, municipalities, utilities, or AHJs.
  • Ability to read basic plans, scopes of work, inspection notes, and permit documents.

Work environment

Mostly office-based coordination with occasional field support, working closely with operations, project managers, sales, install crews, subcontractors, inspectors, homeowners, and local jurisdictions. This role balances administrative accuracy with real-world construction problem-solving.

Compensation

$40,000-$50,000 per year, based on construction knowledge, permitting or inspection experience, communication skills, and overall fit.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in construction, project coordination, permitting, inspections, or a related field.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through.
  • Clear communicator with homeowners, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Able to juggle multiple projects, deadlines, and jurisdictions without dropping details.
  • Comfortable with computers, project management software, email, and spreadsheets.
  • Positive attitude, problem-solver, calm under pressure.
