What They Do
Siemens Gamesa specializes exclusively in wind turbine technology, focusing on both onshore and offshore wind energy generation. The company does not engage in solar technologies, storage, hydrogen, or grids beyond turbine integration (source: wikipedia.org). Their products include the onshore 5.X platform, which has sold over 4.5 GW since its launch, and offshore turbines like the SG 14-236 DD, featuring a rotor diameter of 236 meters and a capacity of 14 MW. The latter has been utilized in projects totaling 1.44 GW (source: siemensgamesa.com). The company serves large-scale energy developers, independent power producers, and industrial customers in the development, construction, and operation of wind farms, with a focus on markets in Europe, Asia, and the Americas (source: energydigital.com).
Projects and Track Record
Notable completed projects include the Vindeby Offshore Wind Farm in Denmark, which was the world's first and operated for 25 years until 2017, as well as Gamesa's first wind farm in Spain at El Perdón, installed in 1995 (source: siemensgamesa.com). Currently, Siemens Gamesa is working on significant projects such as the Bałtyk II and III offshore wind farms in Poland, totaling 1.44 GW, and the La Herrada wind plant, which prevents the emission of 140,000 metric tons of CO2 annually (source: statzon.com). Additionally, production ramp-ups are underway at their factories in Cuxhaven, Aalborg, and Le Havre, demonstrating their commitment to expansion and innovation in the sector (source: siemens-energy.com).
Recent Developments
In the past two years, Siemens Gamesa has announced a leadership transition, with Jochen Eickholt being succeeded by Vinod Philip on August 1, 2024, amid a comprehensive restructuring aimed at achieving double-digit margins and reaching breakeven by 2026 (source: siemens-energy.com). The company has secured significant contracts, including 1.44 GW for Bałtyk in Poland and 200 MW for Repsol in Spain, with a backlog of €33.7 billion despite a net loss of €884 million in the first quarter of 2023 (source: statzon.com). Furthermore, they have sold their power electronics business to ABB and launched innovations such as GreenerTower and RecyclableBlades, underscoring their focus on sustainability and efficiency (source: siemens-energy.com).
Working There
Siemens Gamesa offers a variety of roles in manufacturing, engineering, service operations, and project management, focusing on the design of onshore and offshore turbines, as well as research and development of new technologies (source: siemensgamesa.com). Hiring takes place at key sites, including their headquarters in Zamudio, Spain, and factories in Denmark, Germany, and France, with an emphasis on internal mobility during the restructuring that has led to a reduction of 4,100 jobs (source: ibisworld.com). The company culture focuses on operational stabilization and long-term profitable growth in the wind sector, despite challenges in the supply chain (source: siemens-energy.com).

Job Description
Join the Offshore G4 Platform Team as a WTC-3 Control Engineer and step into a role where your expertise directly shapes the performance of a global offshore wind fleet. You work within the G4 Loads, Controls & Performance (LCP) team, leading control assessments triggered by fleet support needs, customer orders, PLM developments, and aftersales requests. You ensure wind turbines operate as intended by detecting deviations in control, supervision systems, and control software, and you drive solutions that correct and improve real field behavior. You balance long-term control system development with hands-on operational and pre-sales support, making your impact visible both today and across the platform lifecycle.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Define, model, and specify wind turbine control, operation, and supervision strategies.
- Develop test requirements and validate control and supervision algorithms using aeroelastic simulations and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Analyze field behavior, perform root cause analyses when deviations occur, and propose improvements to control algorithms.
- Integrate the wind turbine supervisory system into the overall control architecture to ensure stable operation.
- Collaborate with the team leader and peers to optimize energy production, reduce loads, improve availability, and develop new technical procedures, methods, and tools.
What You Bring
- 4-5 years of experience in a similar controls engineering role.
- Strong skills in MATLAB/Simulink modelling, frequency analysis of time series, and performance data analysis.
- Hands-on programming experience in C/C++ using Visual Studio, along with solid MS Office skills.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering, control engineering, or a closely related field.
- Fluent English communication and experience defining tests for control validation purposes.
- A team-oriented mindset motivated by improving the performance of our fleet.
About the Team
You are part of the Offshore G4 Platform Team, working within the G4 Loads, Controls & Performance organization. The team supports the global G4 fleet by handling controls-related requests from fleet support, customers, PLM developments, and after-sales activities. Together, the team evaluates, defines, validates, and implements solutions that correct and improve wind turbine field behavior. The mission is clear: ensure proper wind turbine operation and supervision performance across the fleet. Collaboration, shared problem-solving, and technical depth define how the team works every day.
