Job Description

Vestas is looking for a Contract Manager to join the Customer Project Execution (CPX) department in the MED region, based in Madrid. This position is not a legal-consultative or initial strategic negotiation role; instead, it has a purely operational and execution-driven focus. The primary objective is to support the Project Manager closely, ensuring strict contract compliance during the day-to-day construction of wind farms with our subcontractors. This role is also expected to provide support with our customer contracts during peak workloads and address the operational needs of the construction team.

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct support to the Project Manager in daily contract execution to ensure the fulfillment of construction milestones
  • Managing the operational relationship with subcontractors specializing in crane services, wind turbine assembly, and electrical/mechanical installations
  • Performing technical and contractual analysis of contract annexes to resolve execution incidents in real time
  • Drafting and managing contractual notices, subcontractor response letters, and any other formal communication required to protect company interests
  • Supervising subcontractors' fulfillment of contractual obligations on-site to prevent cost overruns or schedule delays
  • Preparing documentation for claims management related to extra costs or extensions of time (EoT)
  • Monitoring compliance documentation and internal approvals to ensure execution aligns with company standards
  • Reporting on project outcomes to identify optimization opportunities for future contracts

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Academic background in Engineering, Law, or related fields, with demonstrated experience bridging technical and legal aspects of construction projects
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Contract Management or operational contract oversight within the renewable energy or large-scale infrastructure sectors
  • Practical and in-depth knowledge of managing heavy-lift subcontractors (cranes) and installation/assembly teams
  • Previous experience working for wind sector subcontractors that have provided services to major OEMs; knowledge of Vestas' internal processes is highly valued
  • Execution-oriented mindset with a focus on resolving operational issues, prioritizing action over strategic negotiation
  • Advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken) for project management within the MED region
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines in dynamic construction environments and efficiently manage peak workloads
  • Availability to reside in Madrid and undertake occasional travel to project sites as required by the execution phase
