Job Description

We are now looking for a Trainee, Decarbonization Solutions to join our team working for a better future. The position is temporary, and the preferred location is Trieste, Italy.

What you will be doing

In this position, you will follow a structured induction program, receive coaching, and attend a selected training path aimed at increasing knowledge in decarbonization strategies, data and market analysis, marine engineering. The trainee will be engaged in decarbonization projects and Integrated Systems & Solutions development with a gradual increase in complexity, always being supported and supervised.

As Trainee, Decarbonization Solutions, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Support in the development of decarbonization strategies and solutions for marine applications.
  • Develop and manage flexible models to evaluate alternative decarbonization solutions and enhance customer value.
  • Contribute to the development of data-driven methodologies for decarbonization within Wärtsilä.
  • Support sales and capture teams in evaluating alternative machinery and energy concepts with a strong focus on reducing emissions and increasing efficiency.
  • Support strategic planning and competence development of sustainable, world-class decarbonization capabilities within Integrated Systems and Solutions.
  • Contribute to development studies on innovative marine propulsion and energy technologies aimed at reducing carbon footprints.
  • Create and present solid Value Propositions for the assigned Sales opportunities, tuned to the specific customer's values and requirements.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Basic knowledge of marine systems and their technical components.
  • Basic understanding of sales processes and customer value creation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a customer-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and across organizational boundaries.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and innovative approach.
  • Out of the box thinking and innovative mindset
  • Basic financial understanding and commercial orientation to support sales activities
  • Fluent written and spoken English (B2-C1).
  • Academic background in industrial engineering (e.g., mechanical, naval, electrical), energy engineering, or industrial management. Other profiles with a technical and analytical attitude will also be positively evaluated.

This traineeship includes a paid allowance for the duration of the program.
