What's your role?

You will be leading a manufacturing team consisting of hard-working assembly professionals. Vaisala's Instrument Factory is responsible for manufacturing industrial measurement solutions for selected markets. We work with a variety of industries, and our products solve our customers' problems better than anybody else's. Together with the team, you will have an excellent opportunity to contribute to Vaisala's success in maintaining high reliability and improving the efficiency and scalability of our operations. In this role you will be working in close co-operation with your own team and talented colleagues across the Vaisala organization. You will report to Kari Niemi, Director, Instrument Factory. Your main responsibilities are:

  • Lead your own team and manage various people's matters (e.g., recruiting, onboarding, guidance, performance management, team development, annual people process)
  • Take responsibility for the daily operations and meeting operative targets related to Health & Safety, Quality, On Time Deliveries and Productivity
  • Manage capacity in co-operation with other teams and functions
  • Ensure high quality of production according to set metrics
  • Participate in organizing development activities

What will you bring?

  • Relevant educational background and/or a few years' work experience in manufacturing
  • Good knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and general operations processes
  • Experience from LEAN production is valued
  • Maturity to take on a leadership role: you have ideas on how to motivate your team, lead to their performance and the courage to intervene when needed
  • Understanding of what it means to act as an employer's representative
  • Good cooperation skills to effectively work with and influence different people
  • Proficiency in English
  • Curiosity and a growth mindset to explore, learn, and apply AI tools in your daily work. We expect everyone at Vaisala to actively discover how AI can enhance their work

Your presence and availability are crucial for building trust and supporting your team's success. Therefore, this role requires you to be present at our Instrument factory. The team operates in two shifts. You will also have regular evening shift weeks, approximately once a month.
