Job Description

The Opportunity

You will play a key role within the Building Services team, driving technical excellence, project delivery, and overall team performance. In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, design, coordination, review, and delivery of electrical building services solutions across a wide range of sectors, including commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, mixed-use developments, infrastructure, and mission-critical facilities such as data centers. You will support projects throughout the entire lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through tendering and construction, ensuring compliance with local authority regulations, international standards, and industry best practices. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will develop integrated, efficient, and sustainable engineering solutions that prioritize safety, reliability, maintainability, energy efficiency, and operational resilience. Experience in mission-critical environments, particularly data centers involving redundancy, resilience, and high-availability power systems, will be highly valued. Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Revit, ETAP/Amtech, Dialux, MS Office, and BIM coordination platforms is essential for successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design HV/LV power distribution systems, transformer interfaces, substations, MDBs, SMDBs, DBs, MCCs, and panel boards.
  • Develop standby and emergency power systems, including diesel generators, UPS systems, and static transfer switches.
  • Design lighting, lighting control, small power, earthing, bonding, and lightning protection systems.
  • Coordinate electrical interfaces for fire alarm, BMS, ELV, ICT, CCTV, access control, security, and structured cabling systems.
  • Integrate renewable energy solutions such as Solar PV, battery storage, and EV charging infrastructure.
  • Prepare Basis of Design (BoD), design criteria reports, and technical specifications.
  • Perform load calculations, demand assessments, diversity studies, and equipment sizing calculations.
  • Develop single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematic diagrams, riser diagrams, and electrical layouts.
  • Conduct voltage drop, short-circuit, fault level, protection coordination, discrimination, and earthing studies.
  • Prepare lighting calculations and emergency lighting designs using Dialux or equivalent software.
  • Ensure designs meet authority requirements, project specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with architectural, structural, mechanical, and public health disciplines to achieve fully integrated designs.
  • Review and coordinate design deliverables across project teams.
  • Support design reviews, tender documentation, construction activities, and technical clarifications.
  • Design systems with a focus on constructability, maintainability, operational resilience, and energy efficiency.

If this role right for you?

  • BEng/BSc (Hons) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 8+ years of post-graduate experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of Middle East project experience, particularly in UAE and KSA.
  • Strong interest in BIM-based design delivery and automation processes.
  • Proficient in LV power system studies (Amtech or equivalent), lighting design (Dialux/Relux), lightning protection (StrikeRisk), and generator sizing.
  • Good knowledge of British Standards, NEC, CIBSE, NFPA, UAE, and KSA codes and regulations.
  • Experienced in multidisciplinary (Multi-D) project environments with strong coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Broad understanding of building services design and electrical systems integration.
  • Familiarity with sustainable design standards, including Estidama and LEED.
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution required; Chartered Engineer status is an advantage.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and adaptable to new challenges.
