Employs fewer than 10 people and reports turnover under £1 million, with net assets of £18.02 million as of the latest filing (source: endole.co.uk).
What They Do
Inch Cape Offshore Limited (ICOL) is dedicated to the development of offshore wind power generation, focusing exclusively on the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm project. This ambitious initiative aims to harness renewable energy through a 1.1 GW capacity wind farm featuring 72 wind turbine generators, each capable of reaching heights of up to 274 meters. The project is strategically located in moderate water depths, utilizing fixed-bottom turbines, and is supported by an Ofgem electricity generation license (source: businessenergyuk.com). ICOL's services encompass project development, construction, and planned operations and maintenance, targeting the UK electricity market to supply green power to homes and businesses as part of Scotland's ambitious offshore wind target of 11 GW by 2030 (source: inchcapewind.com).
Projects & Track Record
ICOL's primary focus remains the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, which has not yet completed any projects but is in the construction phase. The project was awarded exclusivity by The Crown Estate in June 2011, following a site selection process that began in 2008. Key milestones include securing offshore consents in 2014 for an initial capacity of 784 MW, which is set to scale up to 1,080-1,100 MW (source: wikipedia.org). Ongoing construction activities include the onshore substation work initiated in January 2024, subsea export cable installation planned for 2025, and monopile installation by Jan De Nul, with full operations targeted for 2027 (source: inchcapewind.com).
Recent Developments
In the past two years, ICOL has achieved significant milestones, including the commencement of onshore substation construction in January 2024 and multiple charge registrations in January 2025. The company has also seen changes in its leadership, with new director appointments and a confirmation statement submission in February 2025 (source: wikipedia.org). Additionally, the company relocated its office in April 2025, reflecting its ongoing operational adjustments as it prepares for the upcoming phases of the Inch Cape project (source: endole.co.uk).
Working There
As a micro-sized enterprise with fewer than 10 employees, ICOL likely offers specialized roles in project development, engineering, finance, and legal support. The company operates from its Edinburgh headquarters, where recent hiring activities have been concentrated, including the appointment of new directors (source: endole.co.uk). While specific job postings are not publicly detailed, roles may align with the operational needs of its parent companies, Red Rock Renewables and ESB, which have broader teams and expertise in renewable energy projects (source: inchcapewind.com).

Job Description
Inch Cape is a 1080MW offshore wind farm situated 15km from the Angus coast in the North Sea. The power it generates will be transmitted 85 kilometres to a new substation at Cockenzie, in East Lothian from where it will enter the national transmission system. Inch Cape is a more than £3 billion infrastructure project that will make a significant contribution to the UK's carbon emissions reduction targets. Once complete its 72 turbines will generate enough electricity to power almost half the homes in Scotland.
The C&I/SCADA Engineer (O&M) is responsible for the technical integrity, availability, cyber resilience, maintenance strategy, and continuous improvement of the windfarm's SCADA, telemetry, communications, and associated operational technology systems during the operational phase. The role supports and efficient control, monitoring, alarm handling, event diagnosis, performance optimisation, and data quality across turbines, offshore substation, electrical balance of plant, and onshore operational interfaces. The postholder ensures that SCADA and OT systems are operated and maintained in a manner that is safe, compliant, secure, reliable, and commercial optimised, supporting turbine availability, export reliability, regulatory compliance, and long-term shareholder value. Duties around electrical safety remain grounded in the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, while cyber-resilience expectations for essential energy services are governed through the Network and Information Systems Regulations 2018 and the NCSCs Cyber Assessment Framework.
The role sits within the operational asset organisation and acts as the focal engineering role for SCADA and OT systems in the O&M phase. There is a strong expectation that the SCADA Engineer supports real-time operations, coordinates with electrical and marine teams, and improve reliability through data-led diagnosis.
Location: Montrose, (3 days a week in the office, 2 days WFH)

SCADA System Ownership and Technical Assurance
- Act as the engineering owner, or delegated technical authority, for the windfarm's SCADA and associated OT systems
- Maintain oversight of system architecture including servers, HMIs, RTUs, PLCs, gateways, historian platforms, field communications, alarms, event logs, and interfaces to turbines, substation, and enterprise systems
- Ensure operational systems remain robust, available, supportable, and correctly configured
- Review and approve system changes, patches, upgrades, back-ups, disaster-recovery arrangements, and interface modifications under management of change controls
- Maintain technical standards, engineering processes, and document quality for SCADA and OT assets
Monitoring, Alarm Management, and Operational Support
- Support safe and effective remote monitoring and control of windfarm assets through SCADA platforms and associated operational interfaces
- Lead technical triage of alarms, data-quality issues, communications loss, control anomalies, and systems events affecting turbines, substations, and balance of plant systems
- Work closely with operations, electrical, marine, and OEM teams to diagnose faults, plan interventions, and restore service in a controlled manner
- Improve alarm rationalisation, event handling, and operational response to reduce avoidable downtime and nuisance alarms
- Support outage planning, return to service activities, and operational readiness for offshore campaigns
OT Networks, Telecoms, and Systems Integration
- Maintain and improve OT network topology, communications resilience, and field to control centre connectivity across offshore and onshore systems
- Support integration between SCADA, turbine controllers, substation automation, protection interfaces, metering, CCTV/security, historian systems, and external control interfaces
- Oversee diagnostics and maintenance for industrial communications systems such as fibre, switches, radios, gateways, timing sources, and related network infrastructure
- Support system upgrades, project handover, and integration of new functions, patches, and retrofit packages while protecting operational continuity
OT Cyber Security and Resilience
- Support implementation of cyber-security controls and resilience measures for SCADA and OT systems in line with company policy and applicable UK energy sector
- Work with cyber, IT, and operational teams to maintain asset inventories, access control, vulnerability management, back-up and recovery arrangements, network segregation, monitoring, and incident response readiness
- Contribute to assurance activities aligned to the NIS Regulations 2018 and the NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework
Contractors, OEMs, and Change Management
- Manage specialist SCADA, OT, telecoms, and automation contractors and OEM work scopes
- Review and challenge technical deliverables, change requests, FAT/SAT records, test procedures, commissioning plans, RAMS, and handover documentation
- Ensure modifications are assessed for operational risk, cyber-security impact, electrical safety impact, and maintainability before implementation
- Maintain strong interface management across O&M, OEM, OFTO / grid stakeholders where applicable, and third-party service providers
