Job Description
The PPA Originator will be responsible for originating, structuring, negotiating, and executing long-term Route-to-Market (RtM) agreements and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with corporate customers, utilities, traders, and other energy off-takers across Europe. The role covers the full commercial lifecycle, from identifying opportunities and developing customer relationships to negotiating bankable agreements that support renewable energy projects.
Reporting to the Head of European Origination, the successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the company's commercial footprint and enabling the successful commercialization of wind, solar, and battery energy storage (BESS) assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and manage new business opportunities with corporate customers, utilities, energy traders, and other off-takers across European markets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key market participants, including C&I customers, financial institutions, utilities, trading houses, public sector organizations, and strategic partners.
- Lead commercial discussions, workshops, and client meetings to develop market opportunities and originate new PPA and RtM transactions.
- Structure tailored Route-to-Market and Power Purchase Agreement solutions for renewable energy assets, including wind, solar PV, and BESS.
- Lead the negotiation of commercial terms and coordinate the execution of PPAs from origination through contract signing.
- Work closely with Finance, Legal, Development, Technical, and Risk teams to develop commercially attractive, bankable, and investable transaction structures.
- Monitor market developments, pricing trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity to identify new business opportunities and optimize commercial strategies.
- Support the continuous improvement of origination processes, commercial models, and market intelligence.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience in renewable energy, energy trading, energy markets, or a related commercial role.
- Strong understanding of European electricity markets, market participants, and energy market fundamentals.
- Proven knowledge of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Route-to-Market (RtM) agreements, Guarantees of Origin (GOs), and renewable energy commercialization.
- Experience in commercial negotiations, deal structuring, and contract management.
- Good understanding of commodity markets, risk management principles, and electricity pricing mechanisms.
- Strong analytical, financial, and commercial skills, with the ability to develop innovative customer solutions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work effectively in cross-functional, international teams.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken). Spanish is highly desirable; Portuguese and Italian are considered an advantage.

- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and results-oriented.
- Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and international environment.
