Job Description
Locogen is a renewable energy consultancy providing end-to-end development services to our clients across the UK. Our vision is a world powered 100% by renewables. We are a multidisciplinary team of 45, dedicated to doing work that matters. Our team is involved in varied work across the UK onshore Wind, Solar PV and Battery Storage (BESS) markets.
About our Renewable Energy Consultant role
This is a Consultant level role within our Advisory team who provide technical and commercial advice to our clients. Our consultants have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, often helping across different teams across various project aspects. As well as technical work, you will be supporting Project Managers and there is some client facing work too.
We have a knowledgeable, experienced team who love to teach and enjoy helping people reach their career goals. If you have good communication skills, like variety, learning and gaining different experiences then this would be a great opportunity for you.
The is a hybrid working role from our Edinburgh (Stockbridge) office.
What you'll be doing
You'll be supporting the team with the planning and delivery of renewables projects (primarily Onshore Wind, Solar and BESS) from early-stage feasibility, through development, design, procurement and construction and into operation. You will also be supporting with technical due diligence and repowering projects.
This will include:
- Supporting project managers as their assistant - helping keep projects on time, on budget and to an excellent standard from inception to close.
- Drafting reports, briefs and documentation including project budgets, plans, scopes, work packages, progress reports, risk and change registers etc.
- Helping to track deliverables against project briefs and plans.
- Researching innovative technologies, policy mechanisms and routes to market.
- Data analysis and Energy Yield Assessments.
- Contributing to meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Working alongside PMs as a supporting point of contact for clients, suppliers and contractors, reporting on project work packages, expectations, progress, issues, risks and solutions.

Who would be a good fit
We are looking for someone who is either at a Consultant level or is working at the Graduate level ready to step up. It doesn't matter if you have not worked in a consultancy before, if you have an understanding of renewables projects (either through your current role or previous studies), good communication skills and want to work as a Consultant then we would like to hear from you.
What skills / experience do you need
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy or relevant environmental discipline.
- Some understanding of renewables either in industry or as part of your degree.
- Strong communication skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc) and general IT skills.
- Proactive, organised and a keen eye for detail.
- Good analysis skills.
- A love for learning.
The nice to haves - you do not need to have these.
- Project management skills - working as the deputy / assistant PM.
- Experience in energy yield calculations for wind and solar PM.
- Knowledge of the engineering standards for design and construction of renewable projects.
- Full UK Driving license.
