Company Overview
OnSite Energy, Inc.
HeadquartersBozeman, Montana, United States
Founded2012
SizeApproximately 50 employees and revenue of $8 million in 2023 (source: linkedin.com).
What They Do
OnSite Energy specializes exclusively in photovoltaic (PV) solar electric system design, development, and installation (source: linkedin.com). The company focuses on residential and small commercial solar projects, serving clients across Montana with particular expertise in challenging installations. Their service offerings include solar electric system design, procurement, and construction (EPC) for residential, commercial, and small industrial applications, along with battery energy storage systems and bidirectional inverter installations for grid-direct and stand-alone applications (source: linkedin.com). A key differentiator for OnSite Energy is its operational capability in steep roof installations and remote mountain locations, as well as winter construction conditions, allowing them to serve properties where standard solar contractors may decline work (source: linkedin.com). The company tailors projects specifically to customers' unique needs rather than offering standardized solutions.
Projects & Track Record
OnSite Energy has designed, managed, installed, and commissioned over 500 electrical systems throughout its operating history (source: linkedin.com). A notable completed project includes a 36-kW solar system installed for the Yellowstone Forever Overlook Field Campus, which powers all electrical needs at that facility (source: linkedin.com). The company regularly undertakes solar installations for Montana nonprofits alongside residential and commercial clients. OnSite Energy operates across Montana with established offices in two major cities—Bozeman and Missoula—providing regional coverage and local expertise (source: linkedin.com). While specific expansion plans are not documented in available sources, the company's geographic presence has expanded from its Bozeman origin to serve multiple Montana communities.
Recent Developments
OnSite Energy was ranked No. 319 on the 2025 Top Solar Contractors List, a significant industry recognition published by Solar Power World magazine (source: linkedin.com). The company achieved B Corporation certification in August 2017, recognizing organizations that operate at elevated environmental and social standards (source: linkedin.com). In 2017, OnSite founders Thornton and Darby launched Solar for Conservation, a corporate program that donates a percentage of project proceeds to 10 Montana nonprofits (source: linkedin.com). These partner organizations focus on land conservation, public land and water access, clean air and watershed protection, and wildlife preservation. This program demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship beyond its core solar installation business.
Working There
Departments and roles at OnSite Energy include management positions (CEO, marketing), field installation crews capable of working in challenging terrain, solar designers and engineers, and project management staff (source: linkedin.com). Conor Darby holds the CEO position and brings over 19 years of experience in solar PV engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC). The company employs marketing staff, as evidenced by Lexi Olson's role as marketing manager (source: linkedin.com). Company culture indicators emphasize strong environmental values and community engagement, reflecting "nature conservation as intrinsic" to operations, with activities including companywide camping trips, mountain bike outings, and volunteer time dedicated to regional nonprofits (source: linkedin.com). Employees are described as valuing sustainability and conservation as core to their identity, with most staff having personal commitment to environmental stewardship. The company operates as a certified B Corporation, indicating formal commitment to environmental and social responsibility standards across business practices.

You'll guide cross-functional teams, manage timelines and budgets, mitigate risk, and deliver high-quality IT solutions aligned with business needs. It's a role for someone who pairs technical acumen with disciplined project management (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid) and thrives on clear stakeholder communication in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do

- Financial & resource management - Manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls. Optimize resource utilization across multiple concurrent projects, and track actuals versus plan, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Governance & reporting - Establish and maintain project governance frameworks. Monitor project KPIs (schedule adherence, budget performance, quality metrics) and prepare and deliver regular status reports, dashboards, and executive summaries.
What You'll Bring Must-haves
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
- 5-10+ years of project-management experience focused on IT or technology initiatives, with a track record of delivering complex, cross-functional projects on time and on budget.

- Proficiency in Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies.
- Experience with project-management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Azure DevOps, Smartsheet).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and executive-presentation skills, with the ability to lead and influence without direct authority.
Nice-to-haves

- Experience with enterprise system implementations (ERP, CRM, cloud platforms).
- Exposure to cybersecurity, data analytics, or digital transformation programs.
- Experience working in global or multi-site environments.
