What They Do
SWTCH Energy specializes in providing electric vehicle (EV) charging and energy-management solutions tailored for multi-tenant residential, commercial, and workplace properties across North America (source: linkedin.com). Founded to address the charging-access challenges in apartment buildings, the company has expanded its offerings into a comprehensive platform that supports charger deployment, network management, and load management (source: swtchenergy.com). Their flagship product, SWTCH Cortex, launched in 2025, leverages artificial intelligence to monitor networks and optimize load management, enabling efficient use of existing electrical infrastructure without costly upgrades (source: swtchenergy.com). SWTCH primarily serves property owners, managers, real-estate operators, and EV drivers, focusing on dense urban environments where electrical capacity constraints are a significant barrier to EV charger deployment (source: crunchbase.com).
Projects & Track Record
SWTCH Energy has demonstrated significant growth in its charging network, achieving a tenfold increase since its Series A funding round and deploying over 2,500 charging stations by 2022 across more than 500 buildings in North America (source: linkedin.com). A notable partnership includes a large-scale deployment with Greystar, where SWTCH provided 2,500 charging stations across 136 U.S. properties, underscoring its capability to serve major real-estate operators (source: startupintros.com). Their installations span multi-family residential, office, workplace, and commercial buildings, leveraging their technology to avoid major electrical infrastructure upgrades while scaling EV charging access (source: swtchenergy.com).
Recent Developments
In April 2024, SWTCH Energy secured $27.2 million in Series B funding led by Blue Earth Capital, with participation from Alantra’s Energy Transition Fund, Klima, Active Impact Investments, and GIGA Investments Corp., marking a significant milestone in its growth trajectory (source: swtchenergy.com). This was followed by a $4 million strategic investment from Constellation Technology Ventures in June 2025, bringing the total Series B funding to $31.2 million and emphasizing the company’s focus on AI-driven network monitoring and load management solutions (source: swtchenergy.com). These investments support SWTCH’s expansion across North America and the continued development of its technology platform to address EV charging gaps in buildings (source: swtchenergy.com).
Working There
SWTCH Energy offers roles across a variety of functions including revenue, marketing, finance, engineering, customer experience, business development, and people/culture, reflecting a diverse and growing team (source: swtchenergy.com). The company’s main office is in Toronto, with additional locations in Brooklyn and Boston, supporting its North American operations (source: linkedin.com). Employees work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment focused on technical problem-solving around EV charger deployment, network optimization, and AI-based load management tools, which suggests opportunities in software development, hardware engineering, operations, sales, and customer implementation (source: swtchenergy.com). The company culture emphasizes rapid expansion, innovation, and a commitment to solving infrastructure challenges in real estate, supported by a history of strong top-line growth and scaling from a small startup to a mid-sized technology firm (source: linkedin.com).
