We are now looking for a Agentic Automation Expert to join our team working for a better future.

The position is permanent and the preferred location is in Trieste (IT), but also Helsinki, Turku and Vaasa (FI) are possible location.

What you will be doing

Process automation is an important enabler of high performing processes within Wärtsilä Global Logistics Services (WGLS). Today, we operate over 150 processes automated with RPAs (UiPath), and we have also started building AI agents to automate more complex, decision-heavy processes across our end-to-end supply chain. As demand for agent-based automation grows and the technology matures, we want to develop this capability further and keep WGLS at the forefront of automation within Wärtsilä.

In this position, you will focus on designing, developing and scaling AI agent-based automation solutions across WGLS. You will work closely with our Process Automation Experts to decide, per process, whether RPA, agentic AI or a hybrid approach is the best fit. You will also play a key role in integrating AI agents with our existing automation landscape, ERP, logistics and supply chain systems, and our data platform, and in defining how we operate and govern agents in production.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain AI agents integrated with UiPath and Microsoft
  • Identify processes across WGLS where agent-based automation is a better fit than classical RPA
  • Orchestrate complex automation initiatives that combine AI agents, RPA, legacy systems and human-in-the-loop steps into coherent end-to-end solutions
  • Extend the existing WGLS AI agent portfolio and define how agents and RPA work together
  • Integrate agents with ERP, logistics and supply chain systems, and our data platform
  • Define practical operating standards for agents - evaluation, monitoring, human-in-the-loop approvals and auditability
  • Represent WGLS towards the central AI and automation communities and participate in cross-organizational developments
  • Support the WGLS Citizen Developer community in adopting agentic capabilities where relevant

Qualifications

  • Experience with UiPath or a comparable automation platform, and understanding of how RPA and AI agents can complement each other
  • Good working knowledge of Large Language Models, prompt engineering, function/tool calling
  • Programming experience in Python, and comfort working with REST APIs and JSON
  • Knowledge of database and integration technologies
  • Experience in using version control systems
  • Understanding of supply chain or logistics processes, together with a genuine interest in improving them and creating value for the business
  • Ability to see the end-to-end flow when designing solutions that span multiple systems, teams and process steps
  • Proactive, analytical and solution-oriented mindset, with a can-do attitude
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to learn efficiently
  • Good communication, collaboration and presentation skills

An ideal candidate will have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in a relevant field of study (technical, computer science, data/AI, commercial etc.) or similar practical experience.

The annual salary range for Italy for this role is 35.000 EUR - 55.000 EUR in accordance with the salary provisions in the National Collective Labor Agreement for workers in the metalworking and plant installation industry (CCNL Metalmeccanico). At Wärtsilä, we are committed to fair and transparent pay. This range reflects the expected compensation for the role, based on market data and our job architecture. The final salary offered will depend on factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the required competencies, and your relevant education, skills, and experience. We also take internal equity into account to ensure fairness across our organisation.
