As the Operations Manager for our Hamburg office, you will play a key role in leading and growing ABL's engineering operations in Germany. Combining operational management, business development, and technical oversight, you will ensure the efficient delivery of marine and offshore engineering services. The role includes overseeing offshore engineering projects such as transportation, loadouts, and installations.

What will you be doing?

  • Support the Country Manager with the day-to-day leadership of the Germany office, deputising when required.
  • Oversee the delivery of Marine Warranty Survey (MWS) and Consultancy projects.
  • Review and approve technical reports, calculations, and analyses for surveys, loadouts, transportation and installation activities, and more.
  • Provide consultancy across a range of marine and offshore engineering disciplines, including feasibility studies and marine operations.
  • Attend client meetings, project reviews, and marine operations both onshore and offshore.
  • Drive business growth across Germany and Northern Europe by identifying new opportunities and developing client relationships.
  • Prepare and review technical and commercial proposals, tender submissions, and client presentations.
  • Develop strategic partnerships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen market presence and expand service offerings.
  • Monitor operational performance, identify business risks and opportunities, and implement actions to support growth and operational excellence.
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction, ensuring the delivery services that meet client expectations.
  • Manage regional financial performance, supporting budget planning, forecasting, and financial control.
  • Promote cross-selling and collaboration across Aqualis Group to maximise revenue opportunities and deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Work closely with business line leaders and regional teams to identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities.
  • Represent ABL at industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings to enhance market visibility and strengthen the company's reputation.
  • Mentor and support team members, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture and encouraging professional development.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Aqualis Group procedures and QHSE standards.

What are we looking for?

  • Naval Architect, Marine Engineer, or equivalent. A master's degree or additional qualifications in a relevant discipline would be advantageous.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience within the marine or offshore sectors, preferably within a consultancy or contractor environment.
  • Strong understanding of marine, offshore, energy, renewable, and maritime operations.
  • Proven experience working on Transportation & Installation (T&I) engineering and Marine Warranty Survey (MWS) activities.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting engineering studies, project planning, and offshore or on-site execution of marine operations.
  • Strong understanding of marine assurance, offshore engineering, risk management, and operational best practices.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing technical and commercial proposals, tenders, and client submissions.
  • Fluent in English. German is desirable.

This position will be based at our office in Hamburg. You must have the legal right to live and work in Germany without sponsorship.
