This role can be based in the UK (Bristol or London) or France (Paris). You'll need existing right to work in whichever country you're applying to.

What will I be doing?

A technical leader in our Migration Enablement team, you will be responsible for the design, plan and build of the data migration for each of Kaluza's platform deployments. The Migration Architect will be well-versed in the complexities and risks associated with data migration programmes, and be well-equipped to develop methodologies that reduce and remove these risks.

You will be a key member of the Deployment Design team: a specialist unit focused on winning Kaluza new business and then delivering on the deals made. The team's mission is to create seamless, scalable, and secure deployment solutions that empower our clients to accelerate innovation, achieve operational efficiency and business success. Through collaboration, a focus on repeatability, and a user-centred approach, we design and implement reliable SaaS deployment architectures that enhance performance, minimise risk, and support future growth.

Responsibilities will include -

• Source System & Data Architecture Analysis: Gaining a detailed understanding of clients' existing systems, data models, integrations, business processes and data dependencies to determine migration requirements and complexity.
• Source-to-Target Data Mapping: Leading analysis and definition of mappings between legacy data structures and the Kaluza target data model, including transformation rules, defaults, derivations and handling of data gaps.
• Migration Solution Architecture: Designing end-to-end migration solutions covering data extraction, transformation, validation, loading, reconciliation and exception management, ensuring alignment with Kaluza architecture and engineering standards.
• Data Extraction Strategy: Consulting with and supporting clients in designing and developing robust extraction capabilities, including defining extract specifications, formats, sequencing, dependencies and data quality expectations.
• Migration Tooling & Engineering Collaboration: Working closely with Engineering teams to define requirements for migration tooling, APIs, ETL processes, validation frameworks and automation required to execute migrations safely and efficiently.
• API, Integration & ETL Expertise: Applying a strong understanding of APIs, integration patterns, ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines and large-scale data processing to design scalable migration approaches.
• Data Quality & Validation: Defining validation rules and data quality controls across extraction, transformation and loading, identifying data issues early and agreeing remediation approaches with clients and engineering teams.
• Migration Reconciliation: Designing reconciliation frameworks to demonstrate completeness and accuracy of migrated data, including source-to-target reconciliation, control totals, exception reporting and business validation.
• Client Solution Design: Architecting and presenting client-specific Kaluza migration solutions, clearly explaining technical design decisions, trade-offs, dependencies and the business outcomes the proposed approach will deliver.
• Migration Strategy & Planning: Developing client-specific migration strategies and plans, including migration cohorts, sequencing, volumes, frequency, throughput, eligibility criteria and migration windows.
• Migration Performance & Scalability: Assessing data volumes, processing capacity and system constraints to ensure migration solutions can achieve required throughput and scale while protecting platform stability.
• Migration Testing Strategy: Defining the technical migration testing approach across component testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, migration dry runs, trial migrations and production readiness.
• Cutover & Production Migration Architecture: Designing the technical approach for migration cutover, including sequencing, dependencies, entry/exit criteria, rollback or recovery approaches, monitoring and operational readiness.
• Technical Migration Leadership: Acting as the technical authority for migration throughout implementation and live execution, providing technical direction, resolving complex issues and coordinating decisions across client, Engineering, Product and programme teams.
• Technical Governance & Design Assurance: Representing migration within programme and architecture governance, reviewing technical designs, managing architectural risks and dependencies, and ensuring migration solutions remain aligned with agreed standards.
• Issue & Root Cause Analysis: Leading investigation of complex migration failures and data issues, distinguishing between source-data, transformation, integration, platform and migration-tooling problems and driving appropriate resolution.
• Requirements & Technical Analysis: Translating business and migration requirements into clear technical requirements, specifications and acceptance criteria, while challenging assumptions and identifying gaps, dependencies and constraints.
• Migration Optimisation: Using evidence from testing, dry runs and live migrations to fine-tune migration rules, tooling, performance, sequencing and operational processes.
• Commercial & Pre-Sales Support: Leading the migration architecture elements of commercial proposals, including solution definition, technical feasibility, assumptions, dependencies, complexity assessment and estimation.
• Deployment & Implementation Architecture: Leading migration architecture within the broader client deployment and implementation design, ensuring migration is integrated effectively with platform configuration, integrations, testing and operational readiness.
• Technical Documentation & Migration Playbooks: Producing high-quality architecture documentation, technical specifications, data mapping artefacts and client-specific migration designs, while developing reusable Kaluza standards, patterns and playbooks to accelerate and standardise future migrations.
• Knowledge Sharing & Technical Enablement: Building migration capability across Kaluza by documenting lessons learned, establishing reusable architectural patterns and providing technical guidance and mentoring to engineering, implementation and migration teams.

About You

You are a hands-on, analytical problem-solver who thrives at the intersection of technology and business. You have a passion for detail and a proven ability to translate complex client needs into practical, scalable solutions. You are comfortable working with large, diverse datasets and possess a strong understanding of how enterprise systems function.

Ideally, you'll have/be:

• Experience:

  • Experience within data migration programmes, with specific experience of developing Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes
  • Experience in a technical/engineering leadership role, able to demonstrate leadership qualities
  • Technical experience of Energy industry or utilities is a significant benefit

• Skills:

  • Data analysis and management
  • Systems architecture and software development
  • Verbal and written communication including the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Delivering impactful presentations as part of Kaluza sales activities

• Other Requirements: Kaluza is a global business, as a result the person in this role will be required to travel as part of commercial and deployment activities. By way of a guide, it's expected that between 9 and 12 business trips a year will be required.
