The Role

The Director of Retail Lead Generation owns Momentum Solar's retail brand ambassador program, built on our partnership with BJ's Wholesale Club. You'll set the strategy, lead the field team, and be accountable for program performance, making sure every in-club interaction delivers qualified leads and a best-in-class customer experience.

This is a road-warrior role based in the NY/NJ market. Most of your week is spent in clubs coaching your team, working with store and partner leadership, and driving results on the floor, with some remote days for planning, reporting, and executive reviews. It's a highly visible position reporting directly to senior leadership, with significant growth potential as the retail channel scales.

Key Responsibilities

Retail Strategy & Growth

  • Develop and execute the retail brand ambassador strategy to drive qualified lead generation and brand awareness
  • Own program targets for lead volume, lead quality, appointment sets, conversion, and ROI
  • Expand the retail footprint by identifying new club locations, partnerships, events, and activation opportunities
  • Own the BJ's partnership relationship at the regional and corporate level
  • Ensure ambassadors act as trusted educators and brand representatives, not just lead generators

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop Field Leaders and Retail Brand Ambassadors across multiple locations
  • Be hands-on in the clubs: model the pitch, run in-field coaching, and set the standard
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to recruit and staff ambassadors quickly as locations open
  • Design scalable onboarding and training programs, scorecards, and accountability for field performance
  • Build a culture of professionalism, integrity, and high performance

Brand & Customer Experience

  • Own pitch standards, uniforms, booth setup, and field presentation for brand consistency
  • Partner with Marketing to align campaigns, promotions, and brand guidelines across retail activations
  • Ensure every ambassador delivers a positive, compliant, customer-first experience
  • Resolve escalations quickly and protect brand reputation in-club

Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Work with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Customer Experience to ensure a clean handoff from lead to appointment to install
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance to ensure all retail activities meet regulatory and ethical standards
  • Partner with Finance on budgeting, ambassador compensation plans, and cost-per-lead optimization
  • Implement tools, CRM processes, and reporting systems to support scale

Performance & Analytics

  • Track and optimize ambassador productivity, lead quality, conversion rates, and ROI by club and by rep
  • Use data and market insights to refine staffing models, scheduling, and club placements
  • Lead weekly and monthly business reviews with executive leadership

Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years of leadership experience in retail marketing, field marketing, brand ambassador programs, or solar/home services, including building or scaling a program
  • Proven success managing large, distributed field teams across multiple locations
  • Hands-on leadership style with a track record of coaching teams to hit targets
  • Experience managing performance and budget accountability
  • Strong command of KPIs and ability to turn data into action
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout NY and NJ; valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Based in NY or NJ
