About Anza Renewables

Company Overview

Name

Anza Renewables

Headquarters

Oakland, CA, United States

Founded

2022

Size

No public employee count or revenue figures are available for 2023 or later, as Anza remains privately held with ECP as the lead investor following the acquisition (source: ecpgp.com).

What They Do

Anza Renewables is a private technology-enabled procurement marketplace that specializes in solar modules, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and transformers. The company was spun off from Borrego in September 2022 and is headquartered in Oakland, California (source: anzarenewables.com). Anza's core technology focus centers on operating a proprietary platform that aggregates technical and financial data from pre-vetted top-tier suppliers, enabling rapid procurement decisions based on lifetime value, risk, pricing, and supply chain dynamics rather than just upfront costs (source: anzarenewables.com). The platform provides real-time analytics for developers, independent power producers (IPPs), utilities, and EPCs, replacing manual research with insights into market volatility and optimal negotiations (source: anzarenewables.com). Services extend to full procurement support, including sourcing, contract execution, warehousing, logistics, BESS commissioning, and construction, backed by the team's execution of nearly 8 GW of solar procurements in the last five years (source: anzarenewables.com).

Projects & Track Record

Anza Renewables leverages Borrego's legacy of 1 GW in solar/BESS EPC, development, and O&M, with the Anza team directly handling nearly 8 GW of solar procurements over the past five years and 7.6+ GWh of BESS deployments in the last three years (source: anzarenewables.com). While specific completed project names, locations, capacities, or years are not detailed publicly, the company has worked with notable clients such as Ormat, Standard Solar, and Renewable Properties, achieving efficient procurement outcomes via its platform (source: anzarenewables.com). Ongoing efforts focus on platform-enabled procurements for U.S. developers, IPPs, utilities, and EPCs, with plans for expansion into more features for solar services, energy storage services, transformer procurement, and BESS commissioning (source: anzarenewables.com). The geographic presence is U.S.-centric, primarily supporting domestic projects from its Oakland base, with no announced international expansion (source: youtube.com).

Recent Developments

In the last two years, Anza formally launched its platform in September 2022 and completed its separation from Borrego on May 17, 2023, securing investment from an ECP-led consortium including Angeleno Group to fuel growth and platform enhancements (source: anzarenewables.com). ECP acquired Anza in May 2023, highlighting its potential to improve procurement for distributed generation and utility-scale buyers (source: ecpgp.com). No additional major contracts won, mergers, acquisitions, awards, certifications, or milestones are documented in available sources from 2024-2025 beyond ongoing platform procurements totaling over 8 GW PV and 5 GWh BESS purchase orders (source: anzarenewables.com).

Working There

Anza Renewables hires in various roles including procurement, strategic sourcing, operations, customer success, solutions engineering, and leadership positions. The core team comprises industry veterans from Borrego, with leaders like CEO Mike Hall and President Aaron Hall, both boasting over 20 years of experience in solar and module procurement (source: anzarenewables.com). Openings are likely at the Oakland, CA headquarters, which is the sole listed location and base for the core team (source: linkedin.com). The company culture emphasizes high-stakes problem-solving in a fast-evolving industry, drawing from Borrego's entrepreneurial origins and the need for tough decisions to survive in a competitive market (source: youtube.com). While specific benefits are not publicly documented, the post-2023 funding supports team expansion and platform growth, suggesting opportunities in a venture-backed environment focused on accelerating renewables via technology and expertise (source: anzarenewables.com).
