Job description
The development of offshore wind farms (OWF) highlights the challenges of integrating OWF into complex socio-ecosystems. France Energies Marines has built up expertise in the ecosystem approach, which is based on the analysis of socio-ecosystems to understand the interactions between wind power, societies and the environment in a holistic vision. The candidate will support the Institute's expertise development and the setting up of R&D projects on the theme of the environmental and societal integration of OWF through the prism of the Human and Social Sciences and in an interdisciplinary manner. In close collaboration with researchers from the "Ecosystem & Society" research department, the candidate will contribute to the development of cross-disciplinary tools and methodologies to improve the consideration of socio-ecological and economic issues related to the development of OWF.
Missions
Reporting to the head of the "Ecosystem & Society" department, the candidate will have the main tasks of:
- Actively contribute to the development of national and international research activities and expertise services applied in his/her discipline (in particular: socio-economy and social LCA);
- Set up, coordinate and contribute to innovative collaborative research projects, with the aim of supporting the socio-economic integration of OWF at different territorial scales (EU, national and local);
- Set up, coordinate and deliver expert services to various stakeholders in the offshore wind sector (e.g. engineering consultancies, government agencies);
- Consolidate and propose new research areas to be integrated into the socio-ecosystem approach applied to the context of offshore wind;
- Contribute to the scientific tasks of the projects, contribute to the supervision of doctoral and postdoctoral students and promote the results in peer-reviewed journals and at conferences,
- Develop and strengthen close collaborations with stakeholders in the OWF sector as well as national, EU and international research organizations in the field of the socio-ecosystem approach.
Required Skills
Education
Master's or PhD in a discipline of Human and Social Sciences
Specific knowledge
- Applied research in transdisciplinary fields (economy, sociology, geography)
- Experience in developing and evaluating socio-economic indicators and models
- Advanced skills in socio-ecosystem approaches

Knowledge of the context of offshore wind development in France and internationally
Work experience
Postdoctoral experience after the thesis or 3 to 5 years' experience after a Master's degree
Professional qualities
- Autonomy and ability to work in a team
- Ability to work on several projects simultaneously
- Appetite for applied and collaborative research (Research Institutes, companies, etc.)
- Good writing and communication skills (French and English)
