What we are looking for

As a Lead Assembly Technician, you will use expertise to connect parts into more complex components. You will ensure all parts fit correctly and are suitable for the final product. You will use your hands or tools to do the job with greater precision.

You will lead the team of Assembly Technicians buy being the first point of contact for assembly related questions. You will train new hires to perform the required tasks.

You must have good leadership and technical knowledge and possess drive and great manual dexterity. Ability to read instructions represented in manuals, drawings, schematics etc. and follow them with precision is extremely important.

The goal is to lead a team to produce complex outputs by putting together smaller components.

Responsibilities

  • Works in a collaborative team environment to deliver high quality Data Acquisition Systems to our customers.
  • First line of troubleshooting technical issues within the assembly team.
  • Assign work to assembly team.
  • Maintain one on one meetings with assembly team members.
  • Help guide the assembly team’s work output, quality, and concerns.
  • Project lead within assembly department for large scale utility projects.
  • Lead training efforts with new Assembly Technicians.
  • Escalation of assembly issues to our Production Operations team as needed.
  • Detailed accurate work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Support effective documentation of processes.
  • Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
  • Cross trained in other department roles.
  • Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures.
  • Take precision measurements to ensure perfect fit of components.
  • Select or modify components according to measurements and specifications.
  • Align material and put together parts to build more complex units.
  • Wiring components.
  • Maintain equipment in good condition.
  • Report on issues, malfunction or defective parts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; or equivalent; Higher degree from a technical school will be appreciated.
  • Proven experience as an assembler.
  • Proven experience leading a team.
  • Technical knowledge and ability to read SLD’s, sales orders, wiring diagrams etc.
  • Ability in using tools (e.g. crimpers, handheld drills, wire snips).
  • Good understanding of quality control principles.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems or electrical circuits is highly recommended.
  • Experience reading electrical wiring schematics a plus.
  • Attention to detail and a focus on quality.
  • Positive Attitude.
  • Patience in training other employees.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines.
  • Work overtime as needed to meet Production demands.

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing warehouse setting.
  • Moderate to high noise levels (i.e. business office with computers, phone, printers, moderate traffic, warehouse with machinery, power tools, etc.)

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate (talk/sign/type/write).
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
  • Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently exposure to outside weather conditions.

Other Details

Stem offers a competitive salary and a full list of benefits, including full health benefits (medical plan options-HDHP and PPO, dental plan, FSA/HSA-with employer contribution, employer paid vision/LTD/STD/Life), 401k with match (first 3% contribution matched at 100%, next 2% contribution matched at 50%) and no vesting period, on first day of employment. 9 paid calendar holidays per year, 3 floating holidays per year, and 3 weeks of PTO per year that begins accruing day one. Participation in a quarterly incentive plan.

This is a hourly nonexempt position, M-F, with additional weekend work as required.

Salary Range

$27.62 - $38.70
