Senior Electrical Grid Engineer (m/w/d)

RWE Renewables is recruiting for an experienced Senior Electrical Grid Engineer to be based in the Netherlands. As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will be focusing on all grid connection related activities for the development and construction of our onshore wind farm, PV and battery storage projects in Netherlands and Northern Europe.

Your key Responsibilities

• Working initially in all phases of our onshore wind farm, PV and BESS projects, the Senior Engineer will be responsible for ensuring a robust and optimized through life design of the project’s electrical system supporting on all aspects of the generation and transmission system up to the grid interface point
• Advise projects on specific questions regarding electrical system behave, grid code compliance and interconnection processes to TSO or DSO grids
• Lead and coordinate interconnection processes, organize all relevant technical documentation, test reports, certifications and RCAs
• Lead design / prequalification for packages of wind farms/ PV schemes/ battery storage plants and components performing audits and technical due diligences. Create simulation models for electrical systems, perform e.g. load flow and short circuit calculations, analyze dynamic stability and harmonics stability as well as protection concepts
• Plan and coordinate internal and external resources for technical due diligence projects (e.g. of M&A acquisitions), analyze simulation results, technical solutions and risks, make proposals for technical and commercial decisions.
• Analyze electrical system behavior and grid code compliance for projects and existing plants
• Develop and issue Request for Proposals (RFPs) for engineering work, evaluate the submissions and make recommendations on their selection
• Prepare the tender, negotiation and procurement process for the E-BoP of the project
• Close liaison with technical experts in Engineering and Engineers working on similar projects to ensure their knowledge is effectively utilized on the project
• Identify, develop and maintain close and trustful relationship with decision makers in TSO and DSO organizations in Netherlands
• Act as a strategic first point of contact for Grid Operators concerning technical, normative and business development topics of RWE as an utility in the renewable energy business
• Maintain a transparent overview about relevant regulations, requirements and network-plans of the TSO and DSOs
• Develop and implement closely together with the project Development function innovative solutions and strategies to connect our planned assets to the grid Develop new business opportunities for RWE as a player in the energy landscape with Grid Operators, e.g. ancillary services considering technical feasibilities and current/future regulation conditions in the market in close alignment with commercial support functions of RWE

Your profile

• More than 10 years of relevant work experience and above-average expertise in the design, construction or operation of onshore wind, PV, Battery or similar renewable energy industry projects, with experience in collaborating with transmission or distribution network operators in Poland
• Comprehensive knowledge of the application of relevant software programs such as MS Office, PowerFactory (load flow, short circuit, protection, RMS and EMT simulations), PSS/E, PSCAD
• Deep understanding and of the electrical Transmission and Distribution Network landscape in the Netherlands
• Excellent communication, coordination and leadership skills, highly motivated, confident and resourceful
• Excellent teamworking ability and integrative skills, social competence and intercultural mind set
• Broad knowledge of the use of relevant guidelines, norms and standards (e.g. IEC61400) and Best Practices
• Successfully completed university studies or comparable graduate education ideally in electrical power engineering
• Fluent Dutch and English speaking and writing Willingness and ability to travel to Northern European Countries, mainly within Netherlands, exceptionally to Sweden, UK, Ireland and Germany for few days, totally up to approx. 15% of the time.
