Our Ground Engineering team plays a vital role in Arup's commitment to delivering sustainable and resilient infrastructure. We provide expert geotechnical consulting services on a diverse range of projects, from iconic buildings to complex infrastructure, contributing to a better built environment across Denmark and internationally. The Opportunity

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you'll contribute to high-profile projects that shape the future of the built environment. You'll have the opportunity to apply your expertise in a dynamic, international team, working on a diverse portfolio of projects and developing innovative solutions to complex geotechnical challenges. This role offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and development within a supportive and collaborative environment.

You could find yourself working on projects such as the Fehmarn Belt link, the Energy Island in the North Sea, Bispebjerg Hospital and the Eastern Ring Road.

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Arup, you will

  • Prepare geotechnical desk studies, soil investigation plans and specifications, manage soil investigations, attend soil investigation activities on site, and prepare soil investigation reports.
  • Interpret factual data and produce conceptual site models to support the design of geotechnical works.
  • Design geotechnical works for both building and infrastructure projects, including direct/deep foundations, gravity/embedded retaining walls, ground improvement, underground structures, and earthworks, and prepare geotechnical design reports.
  • Perform compliance reviews for owners on design and build projects, monitor construction activities, and prepare geotechnical feedback reports.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the development of the regional Ground Engineering Skills Network.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and project managers to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Coordinate with multiple disciplines and work with project managers to complete assigned tasks.
  • Write reports for internal and external recipients. Present technical material (traditional and innovative methods) to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understand trends and best practices in the geotechnical industry. Develop new or existing tools to support analyses and design.

Does this role inspire you?

We are looking for someone who is passionate about geotechnical design and engineering and wants to contribute to shaping a more sustainable and resilient built environment. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong professional proficiency in English and at least one of the following languages: Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, or Finnish.
  • Proficiency in a wide range of soil conditions. Strong technical understanding of design for deep excavations, deep and direct foundations, earthworks, slope stability, ground treatment, and groundwater control.
  • Proven track record of scoping and managing soil investigations, interpreting factual data, developing conceptual site models, and performing geotechnical characterizations.
  • Thorough understanding of ground displacements induced by underground construction and assessment of building/asset damage.
  • Full mastery of Eurocode 7.
  • Good planning, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
