Job Description

Would you like to play a key role in delivering large-scale green energy and carbon management solutions across Europe and international markets?

Ammongas, a strategic business unit within European Energy, designs and delivers biogas upgrading, carbon capture, and liquid CO₂ (LCO₂) solutions for customers seeking sustainable fuel production and high-purity green CO₂. As global demand for circular carbon solutions grows, we are expanding our project organization and are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex, international projects.

Your new role

As Senior Project Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the execution of biogas upgrading, carbon capture, and LCO₂ projects, ensuring delivery on safety, quality, schedule, and cost. You will act as the primary interface towards customers and internal stakeholders and play a key role in expanding Ammongas' international project portfolio.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end execution of large-scale projects within:
    • Biogas upgrading;
    • Carbon capture from biogas and industrial sources;
    • LCO₂ conditioning, liquefaction, storage, and export solutions.
  • Establish and control project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and resource plans;
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, service, sales, and finance;
  • Manage suppliers and subcontractors, including contracts, quality assurance, and delivery performance;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, safety, and technical standards;
  • Drive systematic risk identification and mitigation throughout the project lifecycle;
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers, partners, and regulatory authorities;
  • Provide technical and execution input to sales during tender and contract phases;
  • Participate and support factory acceptance tests (FAT), workshop inspections, and on-site construction activities;
  • Oversee commissioning, performance testing, and handover of biogas upgrading, carbon capture, and LCO₂ plants;
  • Perform regulatory due diligence for new and existing markets (e.g. Germany, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and the US).

Job prerequisites

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline;
  • 10+ years of experience managing complex technical projects, preferably within:
    • Renewable energy;
    • Biogas or process plants;
    • Carbon capture or gas handling systems.
  • Proven experience delivering international projects with multiple stakeholders;
  • Strong understanding of procurement strategies and contract management during execution;
  • Ability to review and challenge plant engineering documentation (PFD, P&ID, layouts, 2D/3D models);
  • Solid understanding of commissioning, performance testing, and operational handover;
  • Experience with project performance tracking using KPIs;
  • Professional proficiency in English (Danish is an advantage).

Technical competencies (advantageous)

  • Knowledge of biogas upgrading, polishing processes and conditioning/liquefaction systems;
  • Knowledge of carbon capture processes and CO₂ conditioning/liquefaction systems;
  • Familiarity with relevant standards and codes (ASME, HazLoc, UL);
  • Understanding of control and automation systems (I/O lists, consumption data, PID control);
  • Experience navigating regulatory frameworks for biogas, CO₂, pressure equipment, and gas systems in European and/or US markets;
  • Strong IT skills and experience with project management tools.
