Job Description
You will manage personal objectives to ensure the safe and timely delivery of the department work programme incl. Construction, Maintenance, Fault investigation/repair and Defect Management and the support functions of these tasks
These projects are connected to the Major projects happening across the Transmission and Distribution networks supporting the UK Net Zero Targe
What you'll be doing
You will Identify personal resource requirements and feedback into the resource capacity planning. Proactively manage interfaces with others to ensure effective time management and availability.
You will continually maximise productivity through monitoring of work processes and output.
Continuously strive to gain knowledge and experience in all areas of business procedures and system operation.
You will take a lead in the statutory obligations of the department by developing solutions and work programmes to carry out repairs and improvements in relation to environmental regulations.
- Contributes as an effective member and identifies way to enhance the Team's ability to deliver its requirements
- Comply with Company Health and Safety requirements to deliver a zero-accident culture and promote good safety behaviours.
- Comply with Company Environmental requirements to deliver a sustainable future on the path to Net Zero.
- Deliver consistent approach to in project delivery, fault management and maintenance.
- Comply with BETTA requirements to ensure key objectives are delivered
- Take a lead in the management of interfaces with external partners and contractors to deliver value in an efficient and a cost-effective manner
- Deliver excellent customer service to all aspects of the operation and actively promote customer service standards

- Develop assigned trainees in accordance with business targets
- Develop enhanced operational skills to become multi-disciplined e.g. if SAP develop protection skills and vice versa
- Proactively manage the control of costs
- Able to make balanced decisions, considering information available and able to consult with others to anticipate/recognise possible outcomes.
- Although confident to make own decisions, will refer to immediate supervisor or peers for either ratification of own view, or assistance in decision making.
- Take a lead in the development and delivery of the Operations Substation Capital Delivery programmes.
- Ensure that replacement items of plant are procured and delivered on time to deliver RIIO-T2 refurbishment/replacement programmes.
- Liaise with procurement to ensure items of plant and resources are procured and frameworks established to deliver the capital works.
- Liaise with OCC and operations planning team to schedule and plan outages to deliver the capital works.
- Update SAP/NAMS as required to ensure that any future stock purchased as spares can be apportioned to the correct assets.
What you'll bring
- Relevant Engineering qualification HNC and above
- Computer literacy - e.g. Microsoft Office suite, SAP/NAMS
- Enhanced knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation. i.e. Fluorinated Gas Regulations
- Customer service skills.
- Knowledge of network and business data and network management systems.
- General awareness of commercial & regulatory requirements.
- A degree of negotiation, communication, and people management skills.
- Ability to devise solutions to problems/challenges.
Desirable experience includes
- Relevant experience in a role within a utility business or postgraduate with appropriate engineering knowledge
- Knowledge of transmission plant standards, specifications, and commissioning procedures.
- Awareness of network development policies and procedures
