Job Description

As a Project Developer - Renewable Energy, you will be involved in the development of renewable energy projects from early-stage prospecting to Ready-to-Build (RtB). The role combines project coordination, technical understanding, and stakeholder management across all phases of project development.

With a background in electrical or energy engineering, you will analyze technical documentation, participate in technical discussions with partners and consultants, and support the permitting and authorization processes required for project development, in coordination with internal teams and local authorities.

The position is based in Bucharest (with travel within Romania and Moldova).

Main Tasks

  • Develop renewable energy projects from early-stage prospecting to Ready-to-Build (RtB);
  • Identify and assess new development opportunities through site screening and preliminary technical, environmental, and regulatory feasibility analyses;
  • Lead land securing activities, including direct negotiation of land lease, easement, and option agreements with landowners, in coordination with internal/external legal teams;
  • Coordinate and follow up on environmental studies and procedures, including environmental screening, impact assessments, and environmental approvals;
  • Manage and coordinate permitting and authorization processes, including:
    • Land use change procedures (e.g. removal from the agricultural circuit);
    • Urban planning documentation;
    • Building Permit.
  • Manage and follow up on grid connection processes, including:
    • Coordination of grid connection and technical studies;
    • Interaction with the grid operator;
    • Participation in grid capacity allocation/capacity auction processes;
    • Obtaining and monitoring grid connection approvals and permits.
  • Support the preparation, submission, and follow-up of ANRE-related authorizations, including the Establishment Authorization (Autorizație de înființare);
  • Review and analyze technical documentation related to grid connection, electrical design, and project layouts;
  • Participate in technical discussions with grid operators, engineering consultants, environmental consultants, and project partners;
  • Coordinate inputs from external consultants and stakeholders to ensure alignment across technical, environmental, regulatory, and project requirements;
  • Monitor project schedules, risks, and development budgets;
  • Consolidate project documentation and advance projects to Ready-to-Build (RtB) status;
  • Support the handover of projects to construction and execution teams.

Skills Required

  • Higher education degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering / Power Engineering);
  • Proven experience in renewable energy project development in Romania, covering several phases from prospecting to Ready-to-Build (RtB);
  • Solid understanding of renewable energy technologies (wind, solar, energy storage) and their technical constraints;
  • Practical experience with land securing, including direct negotiation with landowners (lease, easement, option agreements);
  • Good knowledge of Romanian permitting and authorization processes, including environmental procedures, land use change (removal from the agricultural circuit), and Building Permit;
  • Experience with grid connection processes, including interaction with the grid operator and participation in grid capacity allocation / capacity auction procedures;
  • Ability to review and understand technical documentation related to grid connection, electrical design, and project layouts;
  • Familiarity with the Romanian renewable energy market, regulatory framework, and key stakeholders;
  • Strong project coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple development workstreams simultaneously;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with experience engaging landowners, authorities, consultants, and partners;
  • Working knowledge of project management tools; familiarity with CAD or GIS tools is an advantage;
  • Fluency in English is required; French is an asset;
  • Availability for travel within Romania (and occasionally Moldova).
