We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Project Development Intern to join our fast-paced and collaborative team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the renewable energy development lifecycle, working alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects. The intern will support various aspects of project development, from site identification and due diligence to stakeholder engagement. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about renewable energy and eager to contribute to real-world projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial desktop research and analysis to identify potential new sites for renewable energy development, including reviewing satellite imagery, topographic maps, and publicly available data.
  • Support the evaluation of site suitability based on factors such as solar irradiance, proximity to transmission lines, land use, and environmental considerations.
  • Assist in the creation of site screening reports and presentations for internal review.
  • Support due diligence on potential project sites, including land ownership research, environmental screenings, and grid interconnection analysis.
  • Help manage and organize project documentation, databases, and geographic information systems (GIS) data.
  • Participate in stakeholder outreach and community engagement efforts, as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, real estate, and legal, to advance project goals.

Projects

The primary project for this internship will involve reviewing potential greenfield acquisition projects, as well as data management and integration into a global software system (GIS). This will include:

  • Coordinate with greenfield team lead for project intake documentation and review.
  • Match projects with existing interconnection queue positions and collaborate with interconnection and origination teams for review.
  • Research recorded real estate agreements and provide geographic data to GIS department.
  • Provide the team lead with review and recommendations for potential acquisitions.
  • This project offers a unique opportunity to contribute to foundational process improvements in our early-stage development efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • A recent graduate, or currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in a relevant field such as Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, Real Estate, or a related discipline.
  • Must be based in Scottsdale, AZ or willing to relocate for the duration of the internship.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Demonstrated interest in renewable energy, sustainability, environmental issues.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) is a plus but not required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
