What They Do
Airloom Energy is a renewable energy startup focused on revolutionizing wind power generation through innovative technology. Their core technology replaces traditional tall towers and three-blade horizontal-axis turbines with vertically oriented "wings" that move along an oval track, creating a low-profile, track-based wind generation system designed for utility-scale deployment (source: eepower.com). This system aims to maximize energy production per square kilometer while reducing mass, parts count, and overall costs compared to conventional turbines (source: ces.tech). Their technology is modular, mass-manufacturable, and transportable using regular trucks, enabling faster assembly and deployment (source: airloom.energy). Airloom targets utility-scale wind developers, grid operators, and large energy buyers seeking lower-cost renewable generation, with additional applications including portable power for disaster relief and floating platforms for remote locations (source: eepower.com).
Projects & Track Record
Airloom Energy has progressed from a 5 kW prototype developed in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, to securing funding for a 1 MW demonstration device in southeastern Wyoming, supported by the Wyoming Energy Authority (source: wyoenergy.org). The company broke ground on a pilot project near Rock River, Wyoming, with plans to begin power generation in 2025 and commercial-scale demonstrations by 2027 (source: utilitydive.com). The Rock River site is fully permitted and serves as a technical validation project rather than immediate commercialization (source: renewableenergyworld.com). Discussions with major global energy companies such as Shell and Exxon indicate strategic planning for supply-chain partnerships and commercialization (source: eepower.com).
Recent Developments
In the past two years, Airloom Energy received a $5 million award from the Wyoming Energy Authority to support the design, construction, and testing of their demonstration device (source: utilitydive.com). The company has raised a total of $7.5 million from investors including Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital, and Crosscut Ventures (source: utilitydive.com). Earlier seed funding of $4 million was led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures with support from Lowercarbon Capital and MCJ Collective, coinciding with a leadership transition where Neal Rickner became CEO (source: pulse2.com). In 2026, Airloom’s Generation System was honored by CES as a Sustainability & Energy Transition award recipient, recognizing its innovative design with fewer parts, lower mass, and reduced cost per swept area (source: ces.tech).
Working There
Airloom Energy hires primarily for technical and hardware-focused roles, including engineering, technical program management, and operational positions related to prototype and pilot development (source: indeed.com). Job postings highlight requirements for extensive technical program management experience and engineering backgrounds in electrical, mechanical, robotics, or aerospace fields, emphasizing schedule, cost, risk management, and stakeholder communication (source: terra.do). The company culture blends startup agility with deep technical expertise, drawing talent with experience from major firms such as Google and GE (source: airloom.energy).

Job Description
Airloom Energy is building the next era of resilient, utility-scale power. Our patented wind generation system replaces massive traditional turbines with a low-profile, roller-coaster-style track that uses small, adjustable wings to capture wind energy more efficiently, at lower cost, and in a fraction of the time. By dramatically reducing parts, mass, and construction timelines, Airloom is unlocking faster, more scalable clean energy deployment-designed to respect the land, the views, and the communities we serve. With headquarters in Laramie, Wyoming and a pilot system underway near Rock River, we're assembling a team to help bring this breakthrough technology to global scale.
