Job Description
RWE Renewables is part of RWE Group and one of the largest renewable players in Europe. The Technical Performance Analysis team is responsible for analysing wind turbine SCADA and CMS data to identify component and performance issues on any turbine, throughout our fleet.
The Performance Analyst will focus on analysing, improving and optimising wind farm performance of the >4GW global offshore fleet, through technical support of Operations, Asset Management and other functions.
About the role
- SCADA & High‑Frequency Data Management
- Validate and analyse wind turbine SCADA data and high‑frequency signals from multiple turbine systems. Use this data to identify technical issues impacting individual turbine performance and overall wind farm efficiency, recommend corrective actions, and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented solutions
- Performance Optimisation
- Conduct proactive data-driven analyses to detect underperformance trends, operational issues, and early-stage component degradation. Work with site teams to ensure timely issue resolution and support continuous optimisation of wind farm output
- Operational Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to regular meetings with sites with the O&M function by highlighting performance concerns, proposing improvement initiatives, and driving progress on corrective and CI (Continuous Improvement) projects
- Tool & Process Development
- Support development and improvement of software tools, analytical processes, and automation workflows enabling early fault detection, streamline performance assessments, and ensure scalability as the turbine fleet grows
- Operational Readiness
- Support the operational readiness of newly commissioned wind farms and in-housing of windfarm services through data analysis with cross-functional coordination to ensure compliance with contractual requirements
- Technical Support for Inspections & Servicing
- Provide analytical insights to support turbine inspections, servicing campaigns, and component evaluations, ensuring data-driven decision making and optimal maintenance planning
Role requirements and experience
- University degree in scientific subjects, physics, engineering or mathematical studies
- Knowledge of turbine engineering and wind energy conversion
- Knowledge of wind farm operations and wind farm SCADA systems
- Good knowledge in MS EXCEL
- Good knowledge of Matlab or Python programming is required
- Commercial awareness, specifically the impact of turbine performance and technical decisions on the overall project economics
- Good management skills including organisational ability, communication, team working, time management, organisational and interpersonal skills
- Good English Language skills, both verbal and written
Advantageous, but not essential
- Knowledge in MS ACCESS (or similar) and SQL (or similar)
