Job Description

We are seeking a SCADA Engineer to join our West Geography Energy Engineering and Power Systems (EEPS) Team. The EEPS team specializes in helping clients realize the clean energy transition as an integrated energy system. The successful individual will join an integrated and growing team of utility renewable focused practitioners that cross disciplines in a holistic service offering inclusive of electrical & power engineers, civil engineers, and energy and sustainability consultants.
The ideal candidate should have hands on experience with the design, programming, integration, and commissioning of SCADA and telecom systems for HV substations, PV solar, wind energy, and battery storage facilities. The candidate will be expected to contribute to current work and collaborate with other disciplines to deliver quality deliverables and client outcomes.
The Opportunity
- Work collaboratively in an integrated, multidisciplinary project team environment.
- Perform the detailed design, configuration, programming and commissioning of SCADA and communication system for HV substations, PV solar, wind and BESS projects.
- Prepare complete drawing packages of SCADA and communication systems including: network architecture diagrams, equipment rack/panel front view drawings, wiring and connection drawings, and fiber optic panel layout and connection drawings.
- Design and configure network and communication paths for Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), protective relays, meters, Human Machine Interface (HMIs), PLC's and other SCADA system equipment.
- Prepare specifications for SCADA and communication equipment.
- Prepare points lists of all data to be transferred between control centers and controlled apparatus, assign and program data addressing and routing information.
- Develop Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens.
- Perform configuration and programming of SCADA system, network devices and substation IEDs.
- Travel to project sites to commission and troubleshoot SCADA systems and networks.
- Coordinate and support field construction and commissioning teams.
- Develop Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) requirements and plan for SCADA and network systems.
- Investigate and deploy new technologies as they relate to SCADA, communication and associated sub systems.
- Coordinate with Protection and Controls Engineers.
- Support proposal development, scope definition, and client communication as required.

Is this role right for you?
- Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or technology (Tech) from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
- Minimum of 6 years related work experience.
- Experience in design, configuration and programming of equipment from SEL and other vendors including GE, Eaton, Schneider, Siemens etc.
- Experience with applicable network and communication protocols including: DNP, Modbus, SEL Communication Protocol, Goose Messaging, IEC 61850.
- Experience with system programming, factory acceptance testing, integration, site acceptance testing and commissioning support.
- Experience in the design, programming, integration and commissioning of IEC 61850 protocol relays (GOOSE messaging etc.) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of NERC-CIP requirements related to SCADA and RTU architecture, physical and electronic station security.

Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Seattle is $109,350 to $135,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Seattle will differ.
