YOUR MISSIONS

We are expanding our activities throughout Africa and are seeking an enthusiastic Environmental and Social Coordinator who would report to the Country Manager and the E&S corporate team.

The objective of this position is to support our project and construction teams to ensure that our projects continue to meet the highest environmental and social standards. The primary focus will be on the construction of renewable energy projects in Tunisia. Punctual support could be asked for development tasks on new opportunities.

The specific tasks will include the provision of support and expertise to local teams on the following:

  • Understand the specificities of our projects and the communities in which our projects are located, the prevailing regulatory and policy context.
  • Prepare and complete supporting documents for the construction team.
  • Review documentation provided by external consultants, advisors and contractors.
  • Update and implement the Stakeholder Engagement Plan and the associated software.
  • Follow up during the construction phase to identify potential environmental and social issues that may be identified through inspections.
  • Accompany the construction teams to ensure we meet the relevant E&S requirements of the company and lenders.
  • Work with various local teams, to implement the company's Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS).
  • Support the preparation and implementation of various documents, checklists, registers necessary for on-site activities.

Perform internal audits / inspections, and support teams for external audits.

  • Coordinate with construction, HSE teams and contractors to ensure Projects E&S requirements are planned and implemented during the construction.
  • Train and increase awareness of workers concerning E&S topics.
  • Manage and follow up on the Grievance Redress Mechanism.
  • Punctually provide support on new opportunities (risk assessment, screening, etc).

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES

  • Tertiary degree in Environmental and / or Social Management, Science.
  • Up to 5 years of proven work experience as an E&S Officer/Specialist/Consultant.
  • Experience in building ESMS at the project level.
  • Experience in community engagement in a multicultural context.
  • Experience working on DFI-funded projects.
  • Knowledge of broader trends in environmental and social management and engagement.
  • Knowledge of the renewable energy sector would be a plus.
  • Fluent in Arabic, English and French.
